How about being offered a duty on delivery then, since you are being replaced?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025, 20:16We just do as instructed, we're slowly being replaced by casuals.

Re: Trial offices and repicks!!!
All the manual mail is sorted into the ips fittings with each pair of walks colour coded yellow or blue for the 2nd class trays to be sorted into ( 1st class manual and any mail due for delivery that day will go in a separate pink ips frame. Each pair of corresponding walk frames will have a matching colour, the two colours alternate each day and week between Mon Wed Fri & Tue Thur the second week. On a day when only first class and parcels go out they don't clear down and prep the respective colour ips frame only the new Pink first class etc frame.
As far as I'm aware the mech mail will go straight to the delivery frames and will include first class and any 2nd class that is due that day ( 2nd class that has reached the 5 day hold limit or that has a 1st class letter already going there just as it is now) and any internationals etc.
To make this work all offices should have a revision of some kind that reduces each walk by 40 minutes ish to take into account the increased call rate on the "all mail days" (core)
Obviously larger offices will get many of the old walks reinstated that were probably removed in their last revisions. This is very dependant on the offices already clearing and not failing daily ( Not because of staff shortages but failed revisions that overloaded the duties).
I feel that any DO that is already failing now needs to revert to the duty structures that were in place when they last cleared daily when fully staffed as a base and then the extra 40 minutes ish gets re allocated, but that probably isn't going to happen!!

I'll bite - what do you mean rural less work than everyone else? As no one knows how the hell the USO is gonna work and that everything we hear is hearsay of this and that. From what I've heard of any ideas or proposals of it seems that it's all set up to be driven (excuse the pun) to be driver based. Again I haven't a clue and am only asking if anyone has heard what happens to the non drivers or can a non driver with good seniority still sign for a duty before a driver? The whole scenario of all different things we heard are a mind f@#*
Our rurals are all FT so come in before the PT (generally the town walks/drives) and do the initial sorting whatever that might entail.
PT'ers therefore do no (or minimal 10 - 15 mins of finishing off sorting if it's a busy day).
Do you not include driving in a RM van between one farm and another 'working'?

How many times does it need to be said for it to sink in, RM would NEVER want any of us on deliveries, they want all the newer contracts on deliveries.SkiSunday wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025, 20:20How about being offered a duty on delivery then, since you are being replaced?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025, 20:16We just do as instructed, we're slowly being replaced by casuals.

I assume they are referring to when your out in duty? I can't see how long term rurals can carry on doing just one days post whilst everybody else is doing double or triple post.yellowbelly wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025, 21:14I'll bite - what do you mean rural less work than everyone else? Re: Trial offices and repicks!!!
we have a fair few non drivers. I understand A section of walks will be kept as trolley duties for them. so 2 walkers/ one driver. 3 people in total doing 4 duties. Walkers rotate the deliveries. Driver takes tracked and first class letters for the two duties the walkers are not taking out. Im not sure what will be happening on Saturdays for the non drivers, though by far the most sensible option imo would to make them all Monday-Friday.

And rightly so. Why should a driver be punished so to say by being able to drive!!

Re: Trial offices and repicks!!!
I think they were referring to the full picture, ie rurals tend to have a lot fewer addresses so therefore less d2ds to prep, less mail to prep, less parcels to prep, scan etc, and less walking as you will by the nature of it spend more time driving between delivery points. I can't understand either why they're being planned to to remain delivery every day I think someone is under the big misconception that it takes the same time to drive round the duty regardless of how busy it is, it absolutely doesn't, ours can vary by over two hours on mon/Tues compared to weds/Thurs.TopperGas wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025, 21:34I assume they are referring to when your out in duty? Re: Trial offices and repicks!!!
Our office only plans to add in a couple of walks, the duties are barely achievable with one days mail currently. When they have 2 then one walk only is achievable. So when this bull s**t comes in who can guess what'll happen because it seems our idiot dom cannot.mr hil. wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025, 20:48All the manual mail is sorted into the ips fittings with each pair of walks colour coded yellow or blue for the 2nd class trays to be sorted into ( 1st class manual and any mail due for delivery that day will go in a separate pink ips frame.
