Trial offices and repicks!!!

Post by hewittinspain »

When all this gets rolled out are we having a repick straight away?
I'm just thinking if you have duties A&B then C&D currently with 4 people, it will then go down to 3 people over them same 4 duties making the 4th person spare.

Also would there be an even mix of full timers and part timers on each set because 3 full timers together would give them a better advantage over having 2 full timers and a part timer who doesn't start til 9am when you need them to make some door to doors up!!

Repicks asap have to be done otherwise there will be a lot of senior people kicked off their duty

There will need to be a revision first. If they try and fist this new method in without one it will be a total mess.

Our DOM reckons nothing will happen when it’s in for a few weeks, to allow the process to bed in. Not sure what will happen to the 4th person during this though…

The 4 th person will be gone through vr eventually
But if the uptake is poor seniority takes over and new starts first to go
Personally i will not take vr for their paltry 9 months package
Would rather dour them out

We are a pilot office - no revision or repick prior to implementation, and yes, it's a mess!

There's Zero chance of 25% of the (postie) workforce being made redundant.

Absolutely right , plus this uso change is also creating new duties in offices to make it even remotely workable, can’t see many vrs being available in delivery.

Most likely any excess staff in one DO will be moved to anther DO which is short on staff.

How was it decided who was spare?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Will work from the top down. Those that have been there the longest will get the best picks.
I feel though someone who has been there maybe 11-12 years who would normally get a pick of a duty that's left may end up next time being a cover or reserve because instead of having 4 people to 4 duties it will only be 3 to 4 going forward.
The most senior people will more than likely pick a duty leaving scraps for the bottom half of the office people.

Having said that going back to reserve may not be a bad thing. Technically less responsibility because you don't need to keep up with that duty constantly to keep it clear, you go on it and then move on to another the next day so If them duties are already messed up you're not going to be that bothered.
A few in our office are reserves and love it because of that fact.

What of non drivers? As no one knows how the hell the USO is gonna work and that everything we hear is hearsay of this and that. From what I've heard of any ideas or proposals of it seems that it's all set up to be driven (excuse the pun) to be driver based. Again I haven't a clue and am only asking if anyone has heard what happens to the non drivers or can a non driver with good seniority still sign for a duty before a driver? The whole scenario of all different things we heard are a mind f@#*
