I know the CWU have agreed to pilot USO reforms and the ODM in a limited number of trial offices - but at this stage, they should postpone the entire rollout until there's a full agreement on pay, conditions and equalisation. That would be the most logical and strategic move the union could make right now. Because once RM gets what it wants - reduced delivery days, new duty patterns etc etc it will have no real incentive to give anything meaningful back. It's a bit like trying to negotiate the price of a car after you've driven it off the lot.

The CWU keeps saying "nothing's agreed until everything is agreed" and this is their chance to prove it and halt the rollout until a full agreement is secured. Otherwise it looks like the Union has lost control and it's not just about delays but losing all leverage before the deal is done. If the CWU won't take that stand, then Dave Ward and Martin Walsh should resign. We can't keep giving ground while promises are repeatedly postponed. Members deserve leadership that know when to say "enough"

I'd love to know at what point the CWU knew that these talks were now MONTHS away from agreement. This didn't happen overnight.
We've had about 4 deadlines passed in the last few months, not to mention the now infamous 'can't do a deal with the old board, but when the Romania election stuff is over, it will be done quickly'.

It's not just the paydeal that needs sorting, the whole pilot/trial thing seems to be a massive failure so far. I've heard lots of stories from people in these trials and only the odd one that has been positive and you can bet your life that person is a manager.

Last week the CWU were telling its members pay offers had been rejected and the the EP Group we're stalling on when new contracts would be brought into line with legacy contracts, now they are suggesting they've only just joined the negotiations? I

'm starting to think we could do better just having Employment Representatives discussing the pay rise with the EP Group, at least we'd them know for certain what they were actually prepared to offer.
