Nikki Walker, 49, from Leeds in West Yorkshire, said she was at home working when she suddenly heard her beloved pooch Bella the cockapoo squealing in pain outside

A Royal Mail postie has been snapped on camera kicking a customer’s puppy in the face while carrying out his job.

Nikki Walker, 49, was working from home last month on April 17 when cockapoo Bella heard the garden gate open and excitedly leapt from the ground floor window. Walker, from Leeds, West Yorkshire, said she heard her pooch yowling in pain, so rushed outside to question the Royal Mail postman who’d just delivered some letters.

The postman denied kicking Bella and told her to “do what the f*** she wants” when Walker said she’d be checking her doorcam footage. A grim video shows Bella running over to the postman who turns around and kicks the rescue dog in the face with his right boot.

Bella squeals and appears to be thrust backwards in mid-air, before running off a couple of seconds before Walker opens the door.

Walker said the postman told her he “put my leg up to stop Bella from jumping” but she believes he was lying. The mum-of-four said: "When I heard yelping I quickly ran outside the front door.

"When I asked what she's yelping he said he didn't know. I asked if he'd kicked the dog and he said 'no, I put my leg up to stop her from jumping'.

"That won't be the case because he put his leg back and kicked. I knew he was lying to me. I told him I'd check the camera then he said 'do what the f**k you want.

"Bella ran into the house, curled and cowered on the sofa and that's not like her. I knew something had happened. I sat next to her to watch the video and when I did I was absolutely fuming.

"She was wagging her tail. She wasn't aggressive or barking. She's a faithful puppy. She loves cuddles, attention and she'd sit on your knee for hours. If he'd have done that to my last dog he'd have killed her. My daughter watched the video and she was absolutely mortified."

Royal Mail have claimed two other postmen have reported Bella growling at them, insisting their “first priority as an employer is to ensure the welfare and safety” of staff.

The postman has now been removed from the round and won't be delivering to the address on Walker's request.

She says they offered her £100 and a home visit from a staff member to apologise, but she rejected the latter as she wanted all correspondence in writing.

It was probably better for the dog and the owner for the postie to give it a boot rather than risk being bitten and the dog having to be put down?

Although the storey is a bit misleading as it seems one minute RM were offering the dog owner £100 compensation, the next telling her to build a fence to keep it in, I bet she's sorry she posted the clip now she has to spend money building a fence!!

Most postmen have ptsd over dogs especially when the British judiciary favour the dog owners, every house with a dog should be in the log book and should be made law for every dog owner to have a post box and parcel box on the boundary of their property and any signatures they should be made to pick up from the office, but i doubt that will ever happen because money talks and postmen are just collateral damage, people do not go to work to be attacked.

Yeah, people with external letterboxes (usually because of a dog) but get parcels everyday. Really need shot with s**t. One of my many work related pet hates.

30 years ago I timed to perfection a kick on a Jack Russel I'd had numerous problems with that came running towards me going for my ankles as I cycled past.
Seeing that little s**t scream and ball 6 foot thro the air made my day.

I've had several dog bites over my 30 year plus service. All bar one were either by dogs accompanied by their owner, but not on a lead, in the street or at a property where I'd knocked and the dog was let out when the owner opened the door. Each attack was prefaced with something along the lines of, "It's alright mate, he doesn't bite"
