And with that they all disappeared. Just like the union bosses that they so dearly admire and follow unquestioningly. The working class are better than that. We dont need Ward and Walsh and their paternalism and patronising nonsense. Up the WSWS, up the SEP, up the rank and file.
You and your cohorts need to really understand how you get a union/movement going, continually berating anyone who doesn't agree with you isn't going to attract anyone except lonely losers who scour the internet for lost causes to support.
You need to engage with those you want the support of, accept criticism and try to alleviate any fears people have that you are loonies.
And that is what you come across as!
Change your attitudes towards potential members, so that's every postal worker, and try to win them over with meaningful dialogue and not constant abuse, rise above and stop constantly feeling the need to have the last word.
I obviously have no skin in the game, but the rest of the posties deserve a viable alternative to the CWU, who appear to have gone to the "Dark side" but then again what you are offering may be even darker. Who knows?

Your understanding of the history of the trade union movement appears to have deleted the communists. Trotskyist, syndicalists, Marxists and anarchists who actually created them. That's a historical fact. The trade union movement wasn't given to us. The left had to fight for it.

Moon71 has an absolutely awful posting history in this forum ranging from actively supporting the right and far right to calling for physical attacks on trade unionists. And you want to berate the left for being loony? You need to reflect on what you're saying.

Workers are already turning to the WSWS/SEP and the rank and file committee. What other alternative do workers have? As you rightly say, the CWU has abandoned us.

And Trams your posting history used to usefull. Now it's become hell bent bigotry against the employer, CWU and Ofcom and yes me (based upon some posts I made in 2012) and the fact I call you out weekly.

You look an absolute fool, all the time. And sadly make the PWRFC looks like fools. What an advert for an organisation you are, driving people away from the tea club you promote.

Proof is in the pudding, and the PWRFC are a pudding short. And if they had a pudding, it wouldn't be invited to the table anyway.

Just do it, start a new union, get some members. Just do something bar sitting on a forum arguing with people.

My posting history is there to be seen. Unlike Moon71 my posting history is consistent and unwaivering. Moon71 calls no one out on anything. Moon71's latest rant is proof of something so broken and compromised that it has no sense of reality. I'll post what I want, when I want. And like I told your leader, if you don't like it, tough. Jog on.

Jesus Christ sounds like a mad man. Who's my leader????? Who is my leader? I'd like to know too. But Trams you seem to know.

What a pleasant man to work with. Everyday an absolute barrage of negative bigoted hatred against the environment. We know it ain't perfect but blimey this is madness. No wonder you have to post here, people at work probably gave up years ago. Just relentless.

Remember, people read what you write too. What an advert.

This is what i mean, you start off by telling me off like i am 5 years old, i know exactly where the union movement came from and its a long time before you think.
The point is this, you admit that the creation of unions was hard fought for.
The creation of most things starts off in a hard battle, but that battle to create is over, unions exist, so your battle is how to establish and overtake what is already there, i suggest perhaps you need to rethink how you do it and how normal people perceive you (Loony) and again instead of engaging you take offence.
Trying to berate and give history lessons to folk who know as much if not more than yourself is not the way forward, education does not make you smart, it just means you know things usually that have no bearing on life itself, now knowledge that's the thing that makes people listen, try the later and less of the attempts at trying to sound educated.

Really, the damage was done damaging the USO as far back as the 2010s onwards, one reason for it is due to RM Not offering better prices or offering some type of different product that is cheaper for everyone.

I remember one of my former managers back in 2010, where she pulled out UKMail letters from the fitting of a duty that was on OT (unsure if it's still Whistl now ) , It was meant to show how much of an impact it made to our mail volumes on a daily basis if UKMail delivered their own - she ended up pulling out 7 letters, which was laughable.

forward to 2025, where Evri a parcel delivery firm, is close to being bought out by a RM Rival - InPost, Where they offer much lower prices than RM , as year on year RM pushes the price of a stamp up and makes it less desirable prices compared to rivals.

the other reason for the destruction of the USO as we all know is ultimately changes in attitude as far back as 2015/2016 onwards where for example you could be punished for bringing back mail without a valid reason (Willful delay of mail) infact- it could be a sackable offense if done enough times.

Where did That standard go?

It disappeared when Tracked where given more priority when Managers where benefiting from your street delivery performance as far back as 2015/2016, then Mail was started to be given a lesser priority around the same time when you say you cannot complete, even though you was shown office figures shoved in your face saying you can do it "figures are down" to -if you tell your line manager (COM) that you cannot complete, "Do what you can in your time"- Also that comes from the CWU too-for turning around and saying- " take it out with you, you might be able to do it"- we all know our areas, we know our streets, we all KNOW how long it's going to take upon a busy or light day because that's what we are PAID to do (well not me anymore haha)

But does RM/CWU Actually Listen to us? -NO, because we make sense that's why

So BOTH RM and CWU are to blame for the changes of attitude that has led to the downgrade of the USO , the recent 4 to 5 years however has been down to pure logistic killing processes that have ultimately killed off the USO , along with customer care (closure of customer points ) and then killed off any type of Pride, Quality of delivery and Integrity that was once Drilled into everyone's head (Clear Frame, Clear Mind) to....

"It is What It Is, Do what you can"....

No Shame is felt from anyone in RM or CWU that isn't on the streets everyday

:thumbup

Thanks for your comment it shows how RM and the CWU have colluded with the engineered decline of the USO to prioritise parcels against frontline postal workers. What has been done through subterfuge is now being formalised and sped up to pave the way for Kretinsky. Your testimony helps forearm those looking to oppose and defeat this new stage of the wrecking operation.

In terms of Downstream Access its Whistl and UK Mail (DHL)

"Walsh cites the fact that Downstream Access now accounts for 70 percent of letters, meaning that Royal Mail is making less money from mail. But this is the result of back door privatisation introduced by the Labour government in January 2006. Operators such as Whistl and UK Mail (DHL) have been allowed to cherry pick the more profitable parts of bulk mail collection and distribution, while Royal Mail completes the more costly “final mile” delivery." https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/0 ... e-f09.html

The damage was done by the invention of the internet and email.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

New technology and an overall reduction in mail volumes does not automatically lead to jobs losses, increased workloads and industrial breaches of the USO. Profits and market orientated polices to enrich shareholders does. The same technology can be used to reduce the working week and protect workers from MSD's and much worse by lightening work. It depends on who is in charge. For those interested in what has been prioritised since privatisation and has led up to the Kretinsky corporate coup you might find this informative " A hedge-fund which delivers parcels" https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2023/0 ... f-m26.html

It's had Some impact- but Not All of the impact can be pinned to that ol' chestnut.

I'd say around 25% of it in total being the shift of social/media changes can be pinpointed, the remaining 75% is down to RM changing attitudes through the years along with poor designs of how a postal route is delivered to how much of an impact a GeoRoute designed walk/round has on a individuals long term health (again since 2023, Long term Sickness levels are the highest since early 2000s) , again remember everyone is supposed to be using trolleys to deliver Every day according to GeoRoute - that's something that isn't enforced by RM as they say it's personal choice - But....

RM use it in GeoRoute route designs, it's a tool for delivery much like the red bags, Why isn't it enforced?.....

Also upon how many times you don't get chance to rest anymore, you're meant to have a 10 minute break whilst out on delivery- to make sure you get chance to recuperate, Especially during extreme weather like hot spells or heavy snow - Why is it that's no longer something COM's enforce I wonder.....

You've gotta question the performance overall if you bring back stuff for example and how Badly Lapsing/Absorption wouldn't happen for a DO is probably the main reasons why it's Not enforced- as it takes Longer to deliver using trolleys everyday (average it took me back in 2012 was around 40-46 mins more to deliver with use of trolleys) and obviously standing still in a spot thanks to the PDA's is no longer allowed (PDA's are Definitely able to be tracked live, based upon it's a phone signal that can show on a map- even has a built-in Pedometer (walking sensor AKA Accelerometer) So managers know what's going on

Majority of it has been Self-Sabotage throughout the years of RM Screwing up the systems and CWU letting it happen through no remorse shown or put up a better fight for paying subscribers - instead just fell for RM's Dirty tricks/Lies that have been Counterproductive along with the RM thinking of being The Only mail delivery company-

Now they have competition that's better priced but not on the same wavelength delivery wise- but RM again screwing that bit up by so many other factors like long term sickness caused directly by poor workloads/ poor infrastructures/bad recruitment practices (RM normally recruits 1/3 back in - so say 15 people leave, they only budget for 5 to bring back in and expect the rest of the DO to absorb that workload when it's already fully stretched......

Poor workflow, poor street order, not prepared to Listen to those who are on the streets upon how to Improve the delivery time/order, not updating the fittings at all DO's, going off figures for the entire office rather than individual duties (which can be done by the CSS machines for mail), poor time structures in duties such as unrealistic time to 1st delivery point is half of what it truly is, even something basic as Kill offs letters/RTS ones- that now is a complete mess due to the fact that it's apparently built-in to your daily duties when in reality, there's no time for them anymore- even cleaning the van too- Again- something simple and other drivers expect to happen but you do not get enough time in the day to make sure it happens due to pushy managers that want the performance bonuses

Instead your under constant pressure to perform getting rid of tracked/SD's 1st then whatever mail you can do in your time.....

If i did that when I 1st started back in 2006..... I'd be sacked within a month.... Changes in attitude comes from the top and something that's been stewing for many years.

These above aren't just something that happens overnight- this is something that has happened over the past 20 years.

If that was the case then there be No mail at all at this point- I started when eBay was just starting to become the norm, remember some businesses use a letter sized parcel that'll go through a CS Machine so that still counts towards being a letter too. So the impact is there too with online businesses due to poor infrastructures and failing delivery targets
