That statement on the postcard is almost spot on. Did the CWU have a time machine in those days?

All these very commendable solutions, hard to argue what is required to pull RM back from the mire.stage3 wrote: ↑07 May 2025, 14:13Spot on tramssirhc, not sure how the case can be made that the public don't care. As you pointed out they've been highlighting the run down of the service - missed medical appointments, bills and cards. This has been directed at RM not posties. Instead of blaming the public, responsibility should be placed where it belongs, with the CWU top brass. They use their comms to quote Ofcom that the current USO over delivers for the public need!
I think many have come to the conclusion that this is supported by the entire political establishment with the Labour government at the top and appeals to MP's won't change anything, remember the post cards over privatisation. But this consensus on behalf of the oligarchy is not grounds for standing on the sidelines. An independent struggle is required and faces every section of workers, the Birmingham bin workers fighting the downgrading of their job and pay to make austerity cuts and NHS workers opposing privatisation. The list could go on.
The PWRFC stands for the prioritisation of postal workers who have built this service - defending their jobs and conditions - plus the public interest, not the profits of oligarchy sucking the life out of society and spoiling everything they get their hands on. The first principle of what industrial action is taken is it is determined by the members, its not about just calling everyone out. No resistance will happen on the watch of those responsible for the sell out in 2023 and are buried in Kretinsky's back pocket eg Dave Ward and Martin Walsh. This is about self-organisation of postal workers to remove the dead hand of this bureaucracy.
But then you and your fellow members start going into far left trotsky/marxist crap with a liberal dose of communism, really.....
Look your political views are what they are, but the pushing of your views onto RM staff isn't really what the argument is about, it's about safeguarding the jobs and the industry for the future.
They aren't daft and every time you lot go down that line it gets peoples backs up, stick to the job at hand and leave the politics for a different time and place.

Feck me, "pointing the finger at China, Russia and Iran is deliberate" of course they are pointing the finger at them and their working class live like paupers, how on earth do you start a debate with this crock of s**t!tramssirhc wrote: ↑07 May 2025, 07:31Any war is a a war cooked up by the capitalists to cover for the failure of them to offer anything to the working class. The current economic system has reached its end.GRS wrote: ↑06 May 2025, 20:11So a lot of talk in the news today about the government urgently updating its strategies in preparing Britain for war. Amongst the key strategies being looked at is the postal system, which especially in the event of a cyber attack that takes out other methods of communication would be invaluable in government maintaining communication with the public. Obviously the main concerns centre around Russia and to a slightly lesser extent China & Iran. So what have the government done……waved through the sale of the one company able to step up in the event of a crisis and not only waved it through but to a spiv who’s a close business partner with Russia & ally of Putin. Is this purchase by him actually a genuine business interest or something more shady where he has the ability to shatter one of this country’s key infrastructures. Much like the Chinese purchase of British Steel this is looking like a deliberate act of sabotage!!!
The finger pointing by the capitalist at other countries such as China, Russia and Iran is deliberate. They are telling you they are the enemy and always have been. The working class in these countries are not your enemy and never have been.
The postal industry is in the hands of a few capitalists from all over the world. Don't allow the bigotry of the capitalists to fool you into thinking that one person and that person's nationality is the problem. Capitalism is the problem.
The buyout is simply about the conversion of debt, starting at roughly £5 billion, into actual cash that can be extracted from the industry. For the capitalists debt is simply numbers on a spreadsheet. For you and me debt is a matter of life or death. Our loanees would never allow us to bankrupt ourselves and then walk away with the actual cash. The bosses do this everyday without any question.
It's worth remembering that the sale of the steel industry was supported by our government and the steel unions. The buyers have ploughed millions into maintaining production and had reached the point where it was unable to keep doing it. Thats not sabotage. The sabotage was selling steel making to the capitalists in the first place.
Everything you say after means diddly squat as the first statement kills it, you lefties really are going to have to learn how to start a debate.
We all know the rich, or capitalists as you like to call them, live a better life than the rest of us. They have it good at the moment but times change and the meek shall inherit......

You say the PWRFC puts forward commendable solutions but then launch into one about "far left crap". This is your attempt to deflect from any serious analysis of what lies behind the corporate attacks and Kretinsky take-over - for Christ sake don't mention capitalism. You don't oppose politics, only the politics which challenges this from the independent standpoint of the working class. RM staff are bombarded with messaging by the company, Ofcom and CWU HQ - there is no alternative, the USO is financially unsustainable etc, etc. We cut through this prattle - this is the language of the oligarchy looting everything they can get their hands on not just here but around the world. Your message is leave the politics to them. What do you have to show for your realism - limp references to safeguarding the jobs and industry for the future. Sounds a lot like the rinse and repeat from CWU HQ and the Labour government. You have your views, we have ours but you don't have the right to say what is discussed.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑07 May 2025, 18:33All these very commendable solutions, hard to argue what is required to pull RM back from the mire.stage3 wrote: ↑07 May 2025, 14:13Spot on tramssirhc, not sure how the case can be made that the public don't care. Working life is political. The decisions being made are political. Your assertion that postal workers are not political, as you imply, is not true. Political workers politics created the UCW and all the other precusors to the CWU. Political acts made trade unionism a reality. The CWU won't discuss that or educate members and reps to understand that.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑07 May 2025, 18:33All these very commendable solutions, hard to argue what is required to pull RM back from the mire.stage3 wrote: ↑07 May 2025, 14:13Spot on tramssirhc, not sure how the case can be made that the public don't care. Workers want to hear the truth and want to discuss what they see with their own eyes everyday. The CWU doesn't. The CWU has abandoned its members in return for partnership. And what a partnership it is - scrapping the crumbs from the floor thrown to it by the bosses. Partnership is not independent rank and file led trade unionism. The certification officer should strip the CWU of its certification of independence.

Dear rank-and-file leaders,
You will probably get more support if you focus on the immediate issues that we are all facing - the attacks on our jobs, pay and conditions - without drifting into debates about geopolitical topics like China, Russia and Iran which may serve to confuse or alienate people. We are not part of the Bolshevik Revolution and seeking to overthrow the government in a coup d'etat - we are just concerned about what's happening in Royal Mail, namely the decline of our service, the pressure on our workloads and the erosion of our rights.

Pete apparently all these things are the very reason why RM is in the state it is, doesn't seem to matter to them what the "Workers" tell them, they just ignore them.postslippete wrote: ↑08 May 2025, 17:27Dear rank-and-file leaders,

As long as they get their message across nothing else matters.
Same as the union, so why would any sane person support them.

Seconded. Just constant depressionism. Akin to a reign of terror by the nazis.
