Are you being flippant or is that correct? I was thinking this the other day. At the rate minimum wage is increasing verses our pay rises in recent years, it can't be too long before we're on minimum wage?

Re: Pay rise %
Without delivery supplement and paid breaks we'd be almost there, just look at the overtime rates £13.40 for the 1st 10 hours then after that slightly less just under £13Seymour Buts wrote: ↑04 May 2025, 18:14Are you being flippant or is that correct? That's exactly what Labour supporters voted for.Seymour Buts wrote: ↑04 May 2025, 18:14Are you being flippant or is that correct? I was thinking this the other day. At the rate minimum wage is increasing verses our pay rises in recent years, it can't be too long before we're on minimum wage?
It's probably not the sort of equality they wanted but that's what we're going to get.
It won't be long until they look at means testing the old age pension.
People who have saved for their retirement will probably lose their old age pension in the spirit of fairness, also Labour may deem it far right ot racist to have a private pension.
I have noticed that since the election my Labour colleagues never talk about politics nowadays.

Look at the any Daily Mail headline since Labour came in that references Labour/Starmer etc ~ they always frame it in a negative way. If the Tories had done the exact same thing the headlines would more often than not paint it in a positive light.
As for your comments re pensions and being deemed far right . . . To me you almost invalidate anything else you say with silly comments like that.

Re: Pay rise %
Labour MP Lucy Powell believes that people mentioning Asian rape gangs are dog whistling to the Far Right, so it wouldn't be a stretch for them to deem private pensions as being Far Right.mjd24 wrote: ↑05 May 2025, 12:01To be fair though its quite hard being a Labour supporter trying to discuss politics when most print and news media is so right leaning.milly wrote: ↑05 May 2025, 11:07That's exactly what Labour supporters voted for.Seymour Buts wrote: ↑04 May 2025, 18:14Are you being flippant or is that correct? Re: Pay rise %
If you are honest, surely you can see that when certain politicians continue to bring up the grooming gangs, it is being done in quite a disingenuous way. They are not really concerned about the victims, but rather using it as a wedge issue.
As for what the Labour politician said about it being a dog whistle - I'm not sure thats the correct assessment. But again, its so difficult for a Labour politician to say anything without it being used to bash them. They are held to account much harder than the tories or Farage ever is.
It would be nice to have a sensible and honest debate about politics on here, without people using whataboutism and gas lighting. Im not sure some even realise that is what they are doing, but its so frustrating.

Lucy Powell, "oh, we want to blow that little trumpet now do we" and "let's get that dog whistle out shall we".mjd24 wrote: ↑05 May 2025, 16:25If you are honest, surely you can see that when certain politicians continue to bring up the grooming gangs, it is being done in quite a disingenuous way. She is totally unconcerned and dismissive of this type of criminality because it happens in Labour controlled areas.
She obviously prefers to ignore this issue, so as not to damage the Labour Party.
Pretty evil in my opinion.

The usage of "Far Right" is used to instill fear into the population with the preconception that entails the era of "Nazi's / fascists" and all the horrors that went along with that period of time in history.
Let's look at events in the last 6 months.
Romania:
Calin Georgescu winning the election in 2024 has the result annulled by a court citing Russian and Trump influence. ALL headlines "Far Right"
Germany:
AFD party having made huge gains in elections is now deemed by a court to be "Far right" and will be banned in future rulings.
UK:
Reform made a bloodbath in local elections of both Labour and Conservative held seats. Instant mainstream media response is "Far right"
France:
Marie Le Penn always labelled Far right by the media banned from politics after being found guilty of a dubious embezzlement charge.
Let's come back to Starmers election promises and reality. He has as the the PM broken every promise made in the election campaign, why are you so surprised the media and nation are on his back ?
I've worked and paid contributions for 50 years for my state pension it's not a "Benefit" and the party of the people is going to screw me over not the "Rich Tories"

Re: Pay rise %
Could you please list the 99% of the media that are "left leaning"?
Are you living in a parallel universe?
Why was Marine Le Pen's guilty verdict "dubious"?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The recent dispute was the worst for it, couldn't go 10 posts without bickering between posters.

Have you actually seen the newspapers and news channels reactions to Reforms success last week? It certainly hasnt come across to me the way you describe.
Once again, so hard to have sensible chat on here when people insist on talking untruths. Yet i suppose from your viewpoint in your ecosystem what you are saying isnt an untruth.
As for why im surprised about the media and nation being on Starmers back ~ my point is that if the tories had done the exact same things, the media and thus the nations reaction would not be so harsh, at all.
Im not a Labour fan boy but im just pointing out the facts as i see them. Honestly look at reactions to things such as Lizz Truss’ budget vs Rachel Reeves. Its quite astonishing when you actually see these things. And its literally every thing that Labour do, is fed to us via this lense of negativity.
