Re: Revisions and Frame layout changes.
As the OP I stated that my SPL duty (8-2) was removed and I was basically forced to do a 13.30 - 20.00 Shift.
Well yesterday an advert appeared on an Agency employment site for a temporary contract at my DO.
My exact duty hours 8.00 - 14.00 only difference is £2.00 more than me and a Temp contract.
Me and my colleagues feel like we have dropped the soap in prison.

Surely that is not legal?menditsa wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 08:05As the OP I stated that my SPL duty (8-2) was removed and I was basically forced to do a 13.30 - 20.00 Shift.

Re: Revisions and Frame layout changes.
Union guy is on holiday this week so gotta wait but I'm very close to handing in my notice.
All this week I've been thrown out on walks with at least 2 days mail on them in area's I do not know at all and been expected to prep and deliver them.
When my duty changed to afternoon DPR (The least worst of 2 options I had) all what had been posted and talked about (60 items DPR route) has been thrown out of the window in regards to me.
I'm seeing the DOM in the morning and if that's what he wants I'll be walking away.
My health is more important to me and sitting down to eat at 21.30 and still waking up at 6.00am (I've never worked a job starting later than 9am) is taking it's toll on me both mentally and physically.

I hear and feel your gripes re the change of hours and the impact it’s having, and I hope you get this sorted.menditsa wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 21:52Union guy is on holiday this week so gotta wait but I'm very close to handing in my notice.

But a 60-item DPR for a six-hour shift is the stuff of dreams. A competent DPR driver can comfortably deliver way more than 60 parcels in a whole six hours even if just doing LATs (rather than a fixed DPR).

Re: Revisions and Frame layout changes.
Surely that won't be sustainable starting at 13.30 to prep and deliver a duty, it's just not normal practice are they trying to clear duties that haven't been delivered, presumably someone is doing the parcels you're supposed to do, they won't get many volunteers to deliver the mail, I reckon they're paying someone easy overtime to do the parcels and you're getting shafted, it's quite common knowledge that RM management always choose the easy option.menditsa wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 21:52Union guy is on holiday this week so gotta wait but I'm very close to handing in my notice.

I'm no legal expert but if your contract allows the employer to change your shift pattern then they can do this if they give you reasonable notice. Whilst it is understandably demoralising agency staff are usually paid more per hour because they lack job security, benefits, holiday pay etc.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Ditto ditto ditto
It’s a shambles
They took down 140 odd frames, went to resite them at 8pm and realised no one had arranged sparkies to move the power

Must have been one hell of a claim? We have 60 fittings in our office, average an hour to modify, no claims in our office. Multiply this across all offices and it is costing thousands

Re: Revisions and Frame layout changes.
Been doing some research digging through old forum posts on a different subject and came across this interesting paragraph regarding the introduction of walk sequencing (emphasis mine):
The truth! wrote: ↑25 Jan 2010, 18:52They the[n] gave that same work sequenced and it took on average 1 min 30 this indeed did save time on the normal prep. But 1000 in 19 mins is in no way realistic. Now we asked the question of repitive injury and they responded by well they start aching then they can start sequencing work at another part of the walk.
The machine stops.

Re: Revisions and Frame layout changes.
There is a shitload of delivery jobs being advertised up here in Glasgow. All starting at £13:71. That's with manpower and some other agency. That's about £1.20 an hour more than the new contracts and the agency is paid meal relief. That's a kick in the balls for RMs own staff. They are eventually going to put your all on 4 on 4 off. That way they can cover everything and people can recover also. And you only work 4 .5 month off the year when you take holidays into account. There will be a red team and a blue team. Anybody want to bet.scoobydo79 wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 15:55Surely that is not legal?menditsa wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 08:05As the OP I stated that my SPL duty (8-2) was removed and I was basically forced to do a 13.30 - 20.00 Shift.

Re: Revisions and Frame layout changes.
Agency staff get paid holiday pay and sick pay these days. After 12 weeks they must be given access to a pension and that's dropping down to 6 weeks next April.postslippete wrote: ↑01 May 2025, 07:06menditsa wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 08:05As the OP I stated that my SPL duty (8-2) was removed and I was basically forced to do a 13.30 - 20.00 Shift.

Re: Revisions and Frame layout changes.
True, but like you said they must have worked for the company for at least 12 weeks. I know it's not the same for every office but whenever we have had agency workers in the past they have mainly been recruited over Xmas and only a few of them have been kept on. It's a good thing that their working conditions are changing because I wouldn't like not having guaranteed contractual hours or job security.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Revisions and Frame layout changes.
The pension contributions are the bare minimum unlike RM's fairly generous pension contributions, most of our agency staff over the years have always been keen to take a RM job when it's been offered apart, from the ones who only ever wanted to work a few weeks leading up to Xmas.Navalron wrote: ↑12 May 2025, 02:11Agency staff get paid holiday pay and sick pay these days.
