It’s one thing if they want you to start on time and finish on time with no arguments but they can’t expect you to go over when it’s heavy unless it’s agreed.

RM isn't the happy whimsical lackadaisical employer of the past. Someone has to be the first to be suspended or whatever, and despite what you like to think, it could be you and you'll have neither back up or excuses for it.yellowbelly wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025, 17:14But as as I said, as the current workplace practices stand enabled by local management, I'll await their charge for fraud.....
"Bring it on" isn't a viable or sensible defence.

Re: Clocking out early
Why should you expect to be paid when you have gone home and you are getting paid to be at work.
You can work for nothing by going in early or you can if available earn more by going over your time and doing overtime. To be paid in work time when you have left is custom and practice at its worse and it is actually fraud.
Just do your hours, more if you want but don't take the piss as it will eventually have repercussions not only on yourself but others as well.

Re: Clocking out early
Well the agreement nationally is that SISO isn't linked directly to pay yet and people shouldn't be deducted for clocking out early.Perseus wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025, 17:37Never mind from one office to another, within each office there are huge variances with regards to SISO rules/etiquette.
The software they used for it was an off the shelf heavily flawed add on for PDA frontline, which probably cost nothing, and it spooked many people into changing how they worked. Who knows, maybe the new owners will bring in proper SISO machines with fingerprint, or pincode, linked to pay in the future.
Even then, I'd imagine some to still look for a way round it.
Overtimed should still be agreed before completion.
So being told you didn't get paid as much overtime for Thursday because you finished half hour early on Wednesday is wrong, if that is what is happening.

In our DO it is all dependant on section. The section that gets S/A always finish a good 60-90 minutes early and just walk off, the sections that don't get it are made to sit about waiting to sign out on the rare occasion they return prematurely

We have a karaoke machine and other pub-type games. Pool table etc.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 05:59What are these activities in the canteen ? Do you have weekly bingo or a quiz ?LouBarlow wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 05:39Not a chance. We have been made to clock out on time for years now and people still come in 45 minutes early. Now they rush around to get back early for activities in the canteen that have been set up to fill this waiting time at the end of the day.yellowbelly wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025, 17:14Of course RM are not happy, but as it stands 'SISO' - 'paid for what you work' has not yet been set in stone. When it is, bring it on, I'll be more than happy.Tman wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025, 16:11It's a little more fundamental than that though.
As anyone who's ever punched the clock will tell you, you clock in and back out at the start and finish of your duty.
If you think there's any chance of beating the "charge" by saying there was no work then you must be naive, as the manager will just say" I never said he could go early, and if he'd asked I would have found him something to do".
If RM was happy that employees could still do Job and Knock there'd be no SISO needed.
On the other side of the coin it might stop people coming in early and working for free too.

Every time you offer us a glimpse of your office it sounds like you work in some valley that time/senior management forgot.LouBarlow wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 18:09We have a karaoke machine and other pub-type games. Lou’s office sounds a good place to work. I’d love to belt out a bit of Hit Me Baby One More Time on the old karaoke!

I would do the Neil Diamond classic - Sweet Picket Line.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Now you're reminding me of some stuff that cropped up on YouTube a few years ago, think it went something like
"I would walk 500 miles but royal mail want 500 more"

Re: Clocking out early
The odd thing about clocking out early has never applied to those who still regularly do ghost overtime. I mean, come on, if you get 3 hours overtime for something you shouldn't really be clocking out at 3.30pm! You should be clocking out at 6.30pm. That is where the managers should be held accountable too.
Someone finishing early gets penalised and then sent back out with extra work to do to make up the hours that they could have done if they were asked to do the additional overtime that someone is getting paid to do. The jobs completely f***ed.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Clocking out early
If you read my post again 'Bring it on' is not a phrase I used in referring to a possible charge of fraud. I was referring to SISO being brought in.Tman wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025, 11:22RM isn't the happy whimsical lackadaisical employer of the past. I'm perfectly aware of the situation I could be in and having broad shoulders, will accept whatever comes my way.
