Just a hunch but I think it will be a better deal than recent years, not a high bar to clear I know.
My reasoning is the new owners won't want industrial action and bad press just after a takeover and I think the recent penny pinching is to fund a favourable pay deal.
Be around 3%. The union will claim this is some sort of mammoth achievement even though that figure is pretty standard in many other industries. We will then be flogged to death under the new USO system and and gaslight into oblivion that delivering double mail is “reducing fatigue”
3% immediately or over 2 years?
It'll be months before this is sorted out - cwu have new butts to kiss
Well if 1% cost the business 100 million can't see much of a pay rise on the horizon when the business is only just breaking even.
Anything below 5% is a slap in the face. We get something around 3% then it's an absolute insult. We will not see any difference in our wage packet!!!.
I'm sick of the union and RM taking us for mugs.
A full time wage needs to clear around £25 a week extra to actually make this acceptable

The penny pinching recently is in my opinion an attempt by the current management to look good to the new owners. Look at us sir, look how we have really turned around the company’s finances in the last few months, please keep us in a job sir, pleaseeeee.

Minimum wage beckons, why does any company in the UK have to pay decent wages when there are thousands of cheap workers crossing the Channel every year.

Could be but I think the new regime have been calling the shots for a long while now
The problem with a lump sum deal is that it often dilutes long term pay. I think BT had an offer accepted recently of 1% + £1,000. It just means that if the staff were on say £15 an hour, then an extra 1% gives them £15.15. If they had instead of the lump sum a 4.5% pay rise then it would put them on £15.67 and this would be an equivalent earnings over the year.
The difference this makes is next year a 3% pay rise would put them on £15.67 for the accepted deal, but the equivalent earnings I demonstrated it would be £16.03.
This ultimately gets compounded year after year. There may be instances whereby this isn't true, but it's worth being wary about.

They are either illegal or they arent make your mind up
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

They won't be going back anytime soon, no doubt at some point they'll be eligible to join the Labour market.
I believe some them already work illegally anyway.
I'm merely pointing out that the Labour market is the same as any other market.
It's unrealistic to expect decent wages when there's an oversupply of Labour.
Also employers can't compete with the Government, who can pay people more to sit at home doing nothing.

Ahh I see there are too many workers and also too many people not working
Wait a minute...
The old ''coming over here to take our jobs' whilst also ''coming over here to not work a day in their life and claim our tax money as benefits''
Seems you want people to work....just as long as they are the right kind of person or dare I say it, colour.

It's quite clear that there are massive problems with the out of control welfare budget and mass immigration suppressing wages.
Even the Labour Party recognise this.
I notice you never countered any of my arguments, instead you try and accuse me of racism.
