Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of self employed parcel job ever became a reality but I can't see that for the delivery of mail and d2ds unless I'm missing something

Delivery atm in RM is letters, D2D and parcels. They can't do all that with owner/drivers. Angard isn't owned by RM, it's owned by IDS, the parent company of RM. You might want to put your own thinking cap on.

Surely you agree that the older generation of Delivery posties should be offered indoor duties in the twilight years of their careers Scotchy? The few non delivery people who insist on posting on here daily have absolutely no idea what it's like in a DO.
The company have sleepwalked into this problem and it's not just late 50's early 60's guys who need 'looked after' after pounding the streets for decades.
Years ago there would be something to look forward to after 20 years working on the job - a nice rural duty, indoor work, a 250-300 house walking duty.
Now we have the core staff aged 40-50, decades in the job and the job is about to get even more physical.

Understand what you are saying London, but it still stands to reason that infighting will only weaken any position.
Yes delivery was for me a nightmare at the end, but there's older than me still there and showing little interest in winding down so maybe it's just me.
We are all different and perhaps the offer of something less physically demanding is the way to go, but there's nothing to say that in the future, or even sooner, the indoor job becomes unmanageable too for some.
Amazon here we come.
