Public Holiday Entitlement

Does anyone know what the public holiday entitlement is for part time staff on 25 hours is? I'm contracted to work 25 hours per week, so 5 hours per day for 5 days. This week, it looks like I'm scheduled to work Tuesday - Saturday, so that's the 25 hours, but with today being a public holiday, am I not entitled to at least some PPH leave? Others who usually work 6 days per week are getting today off and only working Tuesday to Saturday, so effectively 5 days. DOM says my day off this week will be today so nothing else due.

Thank you, I thought as much. It seems they're trying to pull a fast one. Several people in our office have been affected by this, at Christmas, both last week for Good Friday and this week for Easter Monday. Does this company have no shame?

Bank and public holidays
In Royal Mail:
• If a bank holiday falls on a day you would normally work, you take the day off.
• If your rest day falls on a bank holiday, your manager will check if workload allows for you to have
another day off that week.
• If you are unable to take another day off, you can either:
 add the day to your annual holiday entitlement; or
 take the excess hours paid as overtime. This will be paid at the Monday to Saturday overtime rate
• If you work for Parcelforce Worldwide, ask your manager how bank holidays are dealt with.
• If you have a part-time contract, your bank holiday allowance will be pro-rated depending on the
number of days you work, e.g.:
 5 day contract – full entitlement of 8 bank holidays
 2 day contract – 3 bank holidays

I’m 28 hours but come in earlier to help sort etc (get paid for it) but have wondered how they would get to 28 hours if they made me work my contracted hours and stopped the OT.

I come in to prep my side of the frame. So although i'm only contracted to work 5h per day, the prep work first thing is always overtime and I usually always end up working between 30h - 40h per week. It's 2 frames, so a van share, each working our own frames.

From the contract it says my "weekly hours of attendance is 25 hours per week (excluding meal breaks), working 5 days out of 7". Core hours of work are between 6am to 10pm Monday to Sunday. "It is anticipated for full time hours you will work 5 days in every 7 (pro rata for part time)".
The contract says i'm entitled to 4.5 weeks holiday (pro rata) + bank holidays. The contract says "you are entitled to the usual public bank holidays applicable to the country where you work". (England in my case). "If you are employed on a part time basis you will have your bank holiday entitlement adjusted in accordance with the Harmonisation of Part Time Conditions of Service Agreement".

I wasn't really told anything. Just looked on the rota and it had my 5 days as being Tuesday - Saturday inclusive. So it looks like my 2 days off are indeed Monday (and Sunday) this week. If it wasn't a bank holiday week, the Tuesday - Saturday would be perfectly fine as it totals 25 hours (5 days x 5 hours).

If its in writing that your day off is Monday then you have a claim.
