Yeah, I think their office like track prioritised, I thought this wasn't the case though. I thought mail was equally important .
Surely every postie knows Tracked are now the priority and you just don't bring them back unless you've told your DOM/COM and have a good excuse for not delivering them?
Until a manager puts it in writing, and I've been asking for two years, Tracked aren't a priority item.
I've brought some back every day this week. Not a word said but then I've been doing rounds that have days of backlog. According to the Royal Mail press office every time it's in the media, the backlog is the priority.
Seriously? Wow.. this I believe is a rare exception across the country. How long have you been a postie?
Late reply, but 31 years.
I've been pulled into the office loads of times in the past for it, asked for it in writing, never happened so I just walk away.
As far as im aware they have never denied prioritising Tracked items
They have denied prioritising parcels and that is technically true as a Tracked letter takes priority over for instance, a 2nd class parcel
Not all Tracked are parcels and not all parcels are Tracked.
They don't have a problem with people bringing unattempted Tracked back as long as they get an 'inaccessible' scan. The managers tell people to do this. One colleague on a DPR was told to scan a van load as inaccesible recently as they took him off driving after he'd loaded his van up due to a scrape in the yard the day before. That's the level of competence of your average manager these days.
It's when they get the correct scan of 'delivery not attempted' that the managers wet themselves and get into a flap. It's funny to watch.
If they made the rounds achievable it wouldn't happen.

The should really scan them as delivery not attempted to give an accurate report of failed work if someone didn't have the time to complete.
If customers complain and say they were in and the address was accessible then the OPG/manager would have to explain what the issue was.
Scanning inaccessible should be for rare occasions like road closures or where the address has been made inaccessible due to an incident or some sort of maintenance work to the street, or even a loose dog in the yard.
Ask the manager to put it in writing that he wants failed work scanned as inaccessible as a rule of thumb rather than the correct delivery not attempted scan.

I have. And I've asked HR as part of a grievance. Complete silence. So I keep scanning Delivery Not Attempted.

Yeah until very recently we got told to scan the parcels that we didn’t have time to attempt to deliver as inaccessible but something has happened because now we are absolutely not allowed to do that because the managers have to explain why it was inaccessible
Now we’ve been told to scan them as first attempt not delivered no answer
I refused and said any parcels that I don’t have time to attempt that I would scan as delivery not attempted
I then got told not to scan them and the manager would sort it out when I got back

Think it’s got something to do with his bonus
Bet the manager will refuse to put that in writing

Most days we leave two, three, four loops of mail, sometimes half the walk in the frame, most days we don't leave the office until 10:30/11am we tray up all the tracked for those loops, even postable packets & leave them with the afternoon DPR drivers, they don't start until 1/2pm, we never tell our manager we are leaving loops, he knows the walk is far to long, most days he never comes out his office, the lads on our rota are overtime maniacs, always complete & are out to 6/7/8 at night, sometimes when we get back someone has taken a loop or two of left mail, which is nice.

That is soul destroying.

Bet you've never done a delivery duty
Why is that even relevant? Have you ever worked in an MC? Have you ever worked in processing? Some rules and regs apply to all.
