No. I am a trade unionist who happens to be a member of the CWU.
What is the answer to the question? "Fighting"?

Been waiting months for the answer to this question.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025, 18:31No. I am a trade unionist who happens to be a member of the CWU.

It certainly is, when it comes to the CWU signing our T&C's away for a pittance just to keep their personal overly comfortable lifestyles going.
1 it only affects delivery staff, so not change for distribution and processing.tramssirhc wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025, 15:47It absolutely is.Burghboy wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025, 09:40It’s not a 25% reduction in workers, and anyone who is suggesting that is scaremongering whilst ignoring the actual information.tramssirhc wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025, 20:28Duties could be reinstated but that will not increase the number of workers. It's a 25% reduction in workers however the CWU manipulates the figures and message. It's a great question querying the savings. However the CWU has signed up to workers doing more with less. How the regulator arrived at it's figure is highly questionable when the data was not and still is not correct.Burghboy wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025, 14:04Don’t think that’s accurate at all, from what I’ve heard most units need to add duties in because of walks being unmanageable. Then firm and rural duties don’t change much. So the most duties that will go is 1 in 4 town duties, however it looks to me like Royal mail are setting up to fail in units that don’t have DPR’s.GRS wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025, 19:50Don’t know how accurate it is but hidden in there it says 1 in 4 job losses. I remember a few months ago saying I reckoned there will be a 25% cut in staff whist it was being stated they expect 1,000!!!! As I say don’t know whether the above reported figure is accurate but going on how ODM is being touted to work it seems pretty realistic to me.
Royal mail’s savings forecast with these changes is pie in the sky in my opinion.
In all fairness you are just highlighting the difference between town/city offices with the rest of the UK. Doesn't make a difference in the £3B takeover does it?Burghboy wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025, 18:051 it only affects delivery staff, so not change for distribution and processing.tramssirhc wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025, 15:47It absolutely is.Burghboy wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025, 09:40It’s not a 25% reduction in workers, and anyone who is suggesting that is scaremongering whilst ignoring the actual information.tramssirhc wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025, 20:28Duties could be reinstated but that will not increase the number of workers. 2 it only affects town deliveries so no initial change for rural or firms. We have a large amount of offices that only have rural deliveries and other offices that have a high % of rural deliveries.
So to say it’s a 25% reduction in staff again is wide of the mark. Do you know how much reduction in jobs there has been in the pilots that are live so far? And how much that is as a %?
Distribution and processing make up less than 5% of total staff numbers, wouldn't surprise me if the actual figure were to be more like 2-3%Burghboy wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025, 18:051 it only affects delivery staff, so not change for distribution and processing.

The commitment for no compulsory redundancies has gone it was up in January this year.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025, 18:43The 1 in 4 or 25% figure is just a simplistic extrapolation of the fact that for delivery duties in scope three people will now cover four duties.
It ignores the fact that not every duty is in scope, some duties will be put into offices to cover new development and also some offices will need dedicated parcel duties to cover high density areas that receive more than average parcels.
Most importantly it ignores the fact that the business has a recruitment and retention crisis and is seriously understaffed.
There is a commitment to no compulsory redundancy and I would imagine they will try to keep VRs to a minimum, there will be an on paper headcount reduction but the vast majority of it will be cancelling existing vacancies and natural wastage over the next 6 months.
Ours seems to be going the other way, some shifts you can count the number of proper RM staff on one hand. We get some casuals in every day, every week. RM should offer them contracts.
There is a new commitment of no compulsory redundancies until at least whenever the USO changes have been fully implementedrichietns wrote: ↑10 Apr 2025, 05:23The commitment for no compulsory redundancies has gone it was up in January this year.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025, 18:43The 1 in 4 or 25% figure is just a simplistic extrapolation of the fact that for delivery duties in scope three people will now cover four duties.
