The Romania Post has been jumped. My Brother in law who is really into shares says that Kretinsky doesn't have half of the votes yet for a successful bid ? He reckons the large investment firms are holding out for more money ?

The bidder now has around a third of the total share capital and given that the current market price is still below the offer price, the takeover is now a formality unless something completely unexpected turns up.
By the end of this month, they will have more than 95% easily, regular updates will be published and as of yesterday the bidder has 33.58%

I've just sold mine. Only lost around £70 on the £3.68 share price.
How did you manage to do that? The share price hasn't been above £1.20 all this year
Don't know what tf website I was looking at on my phone but the date checked out as current ??? I think it has something to do with the fact Royal Mail is now IDS and I had no idea they changed the name but just sold my holding of 3862 shares for £3.65 based on reading your comment so cheers! Glad that rollercoaster is over.
It was a no brainer for me to sell. Just managed to max my ISA out for this year with the proceeds. :nana :nana

I'm not sure why people seem to be under the misapprehension that it's a "done deal".

Kretinsky currently only has an acceptance level of 33% (27% of that being from his own holding)

Hopefully acceptance levels will fall well short and he'll have to up his offer rather than get RM for the current lowball price.

I'm not sure anybody really knows what the biggest investors are thinking, let alone Joe Public – we can only surmise! :hmmmm

But there has been a few quite big sales of IDS shares today, with one I've seen of over 650,000 with a value of nearly £2.25 million. Plus others of 250,000(£900k+). I don't know who's buying them, but DK is probably high on the list of possibles!
It's fairly small numbers in the general scheme of things, but it all adds up.

I'm sure many people will have been waiting to see how the regulatory stuff pans out before they make their move – either sell, accept or hold.
But that 33% will undoubtedly increase as the next few weeks go by.

I'm fairly sure that link relates to the total amount of shares held in the SIP by RM employees. So that 5% equates to nearly 48 million shares at a current value(5/4/25) of £3.65 each, making a total of over £175 million held by posties.

That 5% also tallies with the total number of IDS shares currently issued, which is a tad over 957 million.

DK clearly has a long way to go to get 75% acceptance, let alone 90%. It'll be interesting to see how the next few weeks pan out.

maybe the purchaser of the SIP shares that have been sold is happy to have the ~3p/share premium for a quick buy & sell

Even after fees, 2p on ~48mil shares is potential £960k profit... if the sale goes through.

You can see a lot of folk have sold just their 913 free shares.
How did somebody in the SIP amass over 10,000 shares?

I don't understand the motivations behind those that have already sold.

Either they think the sale won't go ahead and this current market price is the best price that can be achieved.
Or they think it will proceed but just don't want to wait.

Even for 900 free shares, that's £27 they're missing out on.
Probably paying dealing fees and if you have contributed in last 3-5 years then it's tax free too.

What if the sale doesn't go through? Will Dan make an improved offer?
How will the market react?

Under Takeover Panel rules, if a bidder is struggling to win sufficient acceptances, they can revise the terms of the offer. They must give shareholders at least 14 days to consider the revised offer, meaning in effect that Day 46 is the last possible chance for DK to increase the amount he’s willing to pay.
The bid timetable was restarted last week at Day 28…. and we know he’s only gained 6% acceptances so far.
If it’s obvious to me that USO reform could see the domestic Royal Mail become profitable, and IDS overall much more profitable in future, then I’m sure savvy institutional investors will also think twice before accepting a bargain-basement bid

just a reminder, if you've accepted, you can still withdraw your acceptance using the same login details at https://idsoffer.shareview.info/products.htm by 25th April 1pm (for SIP shares).

You get 14 days from the unconditional date to accept the offer, although those who've already accepted by then will get their money quicker.

The unconditional date is when they've got 75% acceptance, or when they've got between 50-75% and EP and IDS agree to a lower threshold.

Thanks for confirming.

I'm pretty sure we don't pay tax and NI on the sip shares. Can someone confirm that please
