Re: Which part of the new delivery model is supposed to reduce fatigue?
The PF is a false flag. My understanding is that it's just about increased synergy between the 2. If you are currently doing DPRs in your office you will carry on doing them and likely take the PF items additionally. If you don't do them you maybe will carry on that way and lose additional borderline items over to PF. Rurals will continue to take PF items. They want to get to the same situation as Amazon where they can see what's coming each night and can decide ad hoc which network it's more economical for it to go through

Can't see how that'll work in practice. Any PF items received at the outward MC will be sent to the PF place at Coventry. Any PF items that are to enter the RM network will have to be sent in an artic by PF to the nearest RDC or hub (think NDC is currently the nearest to PF's Coventry hub). Them items will have to be at NDC in time to make the dispatches. They're going to make it through most of PF's network before they enter RM's network. Once any enter RM's network, they'll have to stay in RM's network as there won't be enough time for them to be returned to the PF hub at Coventry, the alternative would be for the DO to send them out in a van to the nearest PF depot.jessicarabbit wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025, 21:17The PF is a false flag. Foe people tracking a PF item, the tracking will be lost once it goes over to the RM network.

Re: Which part of the new delivery model is supposed to reduce fatigue?
I think you've misunderstood slightly, it's not pf items entering our network it's the other way round so I'm guessing items that arrive at the superhubs will be forwarded to either RM MC's or pf depots depending on which criteria they fit, I think the end plan is also to do away with pf branding to simplify the amount of similar products and everything will be an RM item so no crossover.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025, 22:11Can't see how that'll work in practice. Re: Which part of the new delivery model is supposed to reduce fatigue?
The USO pilots are specifically built around the idea that we'll be continuing to deliver the format 3 and 4 parcels. It would be rather silly to go through that and then hive a great deal of our work off somewhere else rendering all of the outputs irrelevant.
There are no plans to segregate parcels from Royal Mail's core network and move them into Parcelforce, Parcelforce simply do not have the capacity or fleet or logistics to deal with them. The only exceptions may be some of the ridiculously oversized items that have been coming through RM lately that shouldn't really have been our work to start with.
The synergy process between the two companies relates to mostly alignment of IT into one system.
Give it a rest SP.

Re: Which part of the new delivery model is supposed to reduce fatigue?
Won't work, not all mail goes via the superhubs. Mail going between MCs in southern England never passes through a superhub. Where it's going between adjacent MCs it doesn't even go via an RDC, it gos direct between the MCs.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 06:03I think you've misunderstood slightly, it's not pf items entering our network it's the other way round so I'm guessing items that arrive at the superhubs will be forwarded to either RM MC's or pf depots depending on which criteria they fit, I think the end plan is also to do away with pf branding to simplify the amount of similar products and everything will be an RM item so no crossover.

Do try to keep up.The progression of the Single Large Parcel Network activity, defined in Section 5 of the BRT&G agreement which may entail workload migrating between the PFW and RM Networks in financial year 25/26. Proposals include large items (Format 4+) migrating to PFW through direct injection or sortation from the Outward Mail Centre’s. The movement of smaller PFW traffic to RM and the maximising of synergies between RM and PFW Collection operation.

I think that's what I said SP.
Are you struggling with the big words.
Format 4+ are items above what we should be handing, things like microwaves and something I have today which appears to be an entire gearbox.
These items migrated over to us a couple of years ago when they never should have.

Things like microwaves have been coming through RM's network since at least before the start of Covid. The maximum weight for Tracked sent by firms has been 30Kg for a good few years now.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 12:18Format 4+ are items above what we should be handing, things like microwaves and something I have today which appears to be an entire gearbox.

You might get 2 or 3 things like microwaves that you have to handle each day, in MCs we have to handle 100s a day. Boxes of cola bottles are quite heavy. I've even seen a portable air con unit pass through

Lol you talk on here like you are hard done by with your cushy indoor processing duty. I know plenty MC workers and they are all utterly petrified of Delivery, you wouldn't last 2 minutes in a DO.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 12:45in MCs we have to handle 100s a day. RM would never want us in DOs, they'd prefer people on the new contracts or casuals/agency. Most MCs staff these days are agency/casuals. Let's send one to replace you. It's not a matter of if RM start replacing delivery staff with casuals/agency like they do in MCs but when.Londonsburning wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 13:22Lol you talk on here like you are hard done by with your cushy indoor processing duty. Work rates are monitored in MCs, chat too much and you'll get moved or even taken in the office. Managers have to account for every last hour that they use. You see them at the start of every hour counting how many yorks/sleeves/trays of work to be done for each mail stream in their work area.
Unless there's a H&S issue, DDA issue or training issue we can be moved to any section at any time.

Why do you either parrot the same nonsense on every post or avoid replying all together?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 14:41RM would never want us in DOs, they'd prefer people on the new contracts or casuals/agency. If DK or his advisors have any sense they will offer processing staff a sideways transfer over to delivery before telling them they are surplus to requirements, therefore saving £MILLIONS in cash for the business since you are apparently 90% casual/agency now.

Agency cost more, and can only complete a quarter of the work we doSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 15:09They can make much more cash by replacing all delivery staff with casuals/agencyLondonsburning wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 14:59If DK or his advisors have any sense they will offer processing staff a sideways transfer over to delivery before telling them they are surplus to requirements, therefore saving £MILLIONS in cash for the business since you are apparently 90% casual/agency now.![]()

Agency cost less, no allowances, supplements, paid breaks, minimum wage. They can be on different hours each week. Got a quiet day, RM won't have so many agency in whereas with RM staff they'll still be in on a quiet day even if the workload could be done with less people.claretandblue wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 15:10Agency cost more, and can only complete a quarter of the work we doSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 15:09They can make much more cash by replacing all delivery staff with casuals/agencyLondonsburning wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025, 14:59If DK or his advisors have any sense they will offer processing staff a sideways transfer over to delivery before telling them they are surplus to requirements, therefore saving £MILLIONS in cash for the business since you are apparently 90% casual/agency now.![]()
