Yes my round has that on a daily basis and 7 bags of mail on top
How long on average does each "bag of mail" take to deliver on your 'round?'

All the changes mean is more work for the staff that remain at RM. There will never be a light day ever again. Continuous 2/3 day mail workloads or driving around getting in and out of the van over and over again. Plus they'll probably want longer days. I'm already knackered doing the shifts we have currently, not sure I could physically do longer days.
It's almost like it's an experiment to see how far RM can push it's employees until they break. But then what is the end goal? If it is to have a transient workforce, the business will fail catastrophically. :Boo hoo!

They should just make the driver do the large on 3 out of the 4 duties the drivers job seems miles easier than the ones doing the mail
Have you ever delivered the 150 items over 2 duties by van?
Pain in the Asshole. Especially when you have to do the boxes and collections too.

Of course. Plus add in first class letters now, and some want to increase that by 50% to include a third duty because 'the driver job is miles easier'. No one wants to be doing 2-3 days mail every day, but the solution to it shouldn't involve piling more work on 'the driver'. The best option, which is one of the few things I agree with in this new system, is to take 1 week doing driving and the next week walking.

My solution is manageable walks, plus alternate days driving and walking.

My solution is walks that are achievable. Done 6 days a week by two posties. Sickness and absence are covered so the service is good. Drive up the service and in turn drive up the volumes as customers trust and use it more. Increase dsa charges so they stop taking the piss and paying pence. If other companies want to deliver the shitpost, let them. Happy workforces naturally give more effort and a better service. That will drive even more custom to the company and more profit. :arrrghhh

It does seem like this. I wonder if it is mainly fear tactics to encourage as many people on the legacy contracts as possible, for a set period of time, to quit. Also, RM seem hell bent on demonstrating total incompetence, assuming at some point rules will be relaxed to allow for a particular level of incompetence since it's already blatantly clear nobody has the balls to address the total incompetence, and, to the government, etc, a particular level would be preferable to total while still increasing RM's profits. Finally, RM want a low share price for the takeover.

It really could all be total BS.

Who'd have thought a major shareholder would be allowed legally to drive down service of a company in order to devalue it and then buy it massively under it's true value! Capitalism in it's current form is royally f***ing the working class.

That will only work if a DO has the right mix of drivers and non-drivers

I thought the same thing. Have the drivers signed onto a driving van share. Driver stays on their own duty.
The walker alternates between 2 van shares (the non drivers without a licence)
The driver does packets and parcels 1 day then full van share the next. Alternating back and forward.
The end customers get a regular postie and the postie gets to keep a regular duty area.

Tony Bouch claims if the trials don’t work then the CWU won’t back the USO reforms, if this is true why are RM currently recruiting
several People Engagement & Transition Deployment Managers whose key role is to provide support and planning of any possible USO reform, seems to be jumping the gun to employ these new management on £50,000 salary if according to the union the USO changes are not a done deal
All jobs are currently advertised on RM jobs
Apologies for reviving and oldish thread. Ive heard there are "issues" with the current USO trials. Theyre struggling with the increased call rate (which will be no surprise to someone thats actually done the job but beyond comprehension so the clowns with laptops). The source was a manager so I dont think he would spin a yarn like that. From what im hearing from the union everything is rosey and the USO is being rolled out nationwide this summer with a view to the latest offices going live next spring ie the majority of offices will be done this summer.

From another thread there's upcoming realignments in all MCs due to go live early summer this year so the USO will probably be rolled out at every DO at the same time.

Sounds about right. Lets hope im wrong about the trial problems and it all goes well. Still amazes me that a company can implement such drastic change on the assumption that the regulator will agree to scrapping the USO. It's clearly a done deal but the regulator needs looking into if thats the case. Theyre not there to assist the company with increasing profits, theyre there to regulate and monitor the company.

They don't need the approval of the regulator for the changes.
