No drama, just someone sick to death of being lied to about a reality I see and experience.

I don't speak for everyone on the site but I am bold enough to assume I can speak for plenty, and for plenty of my colleagues given what I read and witness. That is not in line with your claims.

Also resorting to the "but, but, but Europe and everywhere....", not relevant. The paying members' working conditions and real life work experiences are what the union need to be paying attention to, not whatever is going on around the world (if anything even is or if that's all lies too, who knows?).
The CWU defends the bosses profits by using statements like 'structural mail decline' to shut down workers who want better. It funny how this decline means we have to lose 25% of our jobs but there's no sign of less bosses or bosses losing their millions. Maybe if Martin Walsh was about to get a 25% pay cut because of his decisions he'd be taking our side instead of of the regulator and the bosses.

I think it probably annoys people when they’re told it’s not as busy as it once was.

My office that’s fairly large can barely get one delivery between between 2 done.

Don’t have your days off covered.

Don’t have your annual leave covered.

Don’t have the staff because the pay and conditions are now pretty poor.

D2d’s not done for the reasons set out above.

We’re all working harder than ever with more daily than we’ve had for years.

Some of this will differ from office to office but if you’re in a city you’re getting battered every day and you’ll then get those most condescending area reps coming in who do have cushy jobs not addressing any of it.

The realty is that yes letters have fallen but we’re delivering them in less days but the increase in parcels which are way more time consuming has gone through the roof , at least 100 tracked per day and that’s not slowed down once this year.

I think in my honest opinion that’s what really gets on peoples nerves.

It doesn't help when Martin Walsh tries to equate his experience of doing the job decades ago with the reality of what's happening now. His attempt to describe it in bags carried was nonsense. Like it or not the CWU is in bed with the industry and the regulator in the pursuit of one thing - profit. Until the CWU gets out of that bed and back to demanding renationalisation the members are going to be failed.

There's going to be realignments in all MCs which means that the "pilots" are probably going to be rolled out everywhere at the same time the realignments in MCs go live.

The stuff in the thread about the realignments mentions about "large" going over to PF, which probably means the end of all DPR duties in DOs

I totally agree with you that we're busier and more overworked than we've ever been.
That's because of a few things.

A recruitment and retention crisis created by three disastrous decisions by senior management. A recruitment freeze during the dispute, the degradation of new entrant's t&C's and the network change which has left most offices understaffed and most of us overworked.

The continued increase in parcels and the increase in associated tasks without acknowledging this in duty times.

The ridiculous panicked turning off and on of overtime and its poor levels of pay.

What still has to be acknowledged is the continuing decline in letters and the now almost total reliance on parcels to make any money so when these guys talk about a multi billion postal industry what they actually mean is a multi billion pound parcel delivery industry, one swimming with non unionised sharks like Amazon and Evri so perhaps rather than trying to destroy the CWU if they're really interested in the "industry" maybe they should be putting their best socialist shoulders against that rock....

The CWU is not perfect and I've ripped into Martin Walsh for years on this site but these guys who post on here from whatever the Third/Fourth/Fifth Brigade International are calling themselves these days have an anti-union agenda not an anti-management or business agenda.

So you agree CWU has sold us down the river then? Making massive excess profits for RM whilst losing the majority of OPG grade employees money, due to the strikes which achieved absolutely nothing in return?

All of the above and most of all, the fact that there are still shedloads of letters and d2ds. We have not "switched" to parcels like lots of people seem to like to make out is the case, we have had delivering parcels loaded on top of still delivering letters. Letters haven't disappeared, how many times do you go in the office and be like "ooh, there's no mail, what's going on? Has it finally happened, have the letters disappeared?" The answer is always, "As if, a york's gone to the wrong office so it will all be here tomorrow, along with tomorrow's mail". You know I'm right, stop lying.

I don’t disagree with what you’ve said here woody.

I Also think that delivering letters on alternate days is a decent way forward for us as is the the increase in parcels , more work has to be good for us.

My issue is with how that change is implemented.

How bad some offices are now with everything from d2d’s to untracked parcels being days behind , the real worry is these changes are managed in the same way then the days will be so much harder.

Those changes have a bigger scope to go downhill much faster and our workload becomes impossible.

That means less customer satisfaction in all areas and then less work for us.

The union have to get their heads out of the sand on this.

We have been run so badly for a long time now.

Good to see you back on here though.

Why is delivering letters on alternative ways a decent way forward, as who wants to deliver double mail, some times triple mail, 5 days a week for the same rate of pay?
.
RM have made the duties so long they usually take a full day to deliver, now they are doubling the workload.

We’ve been doing that for at least two years in my office, B
badly implemented which is why I’ve said in these posts that if it’s done properly it’s not a bad way to go with the impact of this on job loses.

People will need to get used to using the correct equipment too.

My issue is the revisions not being done right with this.

I think we all would like to be delivering all mail every day in our contracted hours but it is simply not how the business is going.

Im in a rural area. In the 11 months i have been with the company I have been walking into double and triple mail practically every week, and thats no exaggeration. Single mail is the exception. Rotating rounds and clearing half a frame / one third of mail at a time in order to get tracked and parcels delivered. it’s utter madness and exhausting. Apparently not long before i joined there was revisions where a couple of rounds got absorbed into the rest. All far too long etc which is the same for most DO’S as i understand it.

last week we had a guy turn up in the morning who was something to do with the new USO changes……thats strange i thought but not surprised. i didn’t have time to talk much but i made it clear that unless we are able to clear frames daily how can these changes work? He just acted surprised that rounds currently cant be achieved. like really?

We are short 7, maybe more vacancies, no rest day cover, no annual leave cover, never had a DPR we take out all oversize and no agency resource. Also got told by manager that some of the vacancies will be held open for transfers from other depots that end up with excess staff when these USO changes happen.

You can try 50 different ways to juggle resources and methods but you cant beat or change time and volume. More staff and or smaller rounds is THE only answer.

A while back one DO in the area had a load of walks removed. One day a CSS batch for them had half the number of walks, there wasn't any changes to any other batches for them so they can't have just been moved to another batch, they must have been removed.

If it wasn't for the DTS system, CSS batches would be way smaller, tbqf the odd batch on a Monday night might not even be worth running as sequenced.

Do you just cut and paste the same responses to almost every post on here? I'm with whomever asked if you are some sort of weird bot lol.

The 2 walks were added on (absorbed) to other rounds in the DO.

What makes me laugh with all the bickering on here is when the new owner comes in he has only guaranteed he will leave stuff alone because of an agreement with the Government and the CWU. Once the length of the agreement is over probably 3-5 years all bets are off. Look at Denmark 🇩🇰 the first to get rid of delivering letters at the end of 2025. Other Countries/companies will follow that model(more profit). Royal Mail will be a Parcel Company in 5 Years time maybe longer with Union fighting a losing cause. The World is going Digital.
