85% out of 300 odd who voted on a site with i think 70,000 odd members is really not a true poll.like ive already said the last agreement on here in a poll was a big no yet the agreement was voted in so stage 3 an your few members need to stop cwu bashing.
At least people on here voted - not like the spineless idiots in the union who don’t bother voting on anything - like you :whistle
Most people in my office think the CWU sold us out :wave
I vote on everything to do with cwu.why do people say my office voted no how do you know.so im a spineless idiot for not voting the way you would like me too..hope tbt pulls you up for ur comments like a few us have recently.also most on here btw it looks dont vote as as few hundred dont account
for the majority.

You all seem to enjoy raking over the embers of what happened a few years back, the vote was "YES" i didn't like it and you don't like it, too bad it's the past.over, gone and as dead as the "Norwegian Blue" parrot of monty python fame. Which is what this thread has degenerated into, and like any thread involving this leftie bunch degenerate into, name calling and finger pointing about something that has been confined to history.
How about concentrating on the here and now and where we are going to end up.
I have a problem with how close the union appear to be involved with this company, but that's just me, that doesn't mean that there's collusion, i understand why the union are so involved in everything and hope they are looking after our interests.
If i am wrong and they sell us out i withdraw my subs, a simple solution, and hit them in the pocket.
I won't stand with my fist in the air in support of some bunch of looney leftie bunch who have nothing to offer us except words.

And on the subject of the union being deeply involved, that’s a good thing isn’t it? They’re actually in there trying to make things as best as possible for members/workers. If managers don’t listen, and don’t put in extra hours or walks, then the pilots will fall on their arse and it will be their fault.

There are bad actors in any organisation and they need to be exposed and weeded out. They have to be made to remember why they are there, and shown the door.

That's not will happen. Workers will and are bearing the brunt of the pursuit of profit. None of this is about defending our jobs or the criteria laid down by parliament on behalf of the voters. It's simply about squeezing every last drop out of us and I to the bosses pockets. History proves this position correct. No other Union would be siding with those attacking it's members in this way. The GMB would never ever argue that the 11:30 Cleethorpes local was not making enough money or was in decline because no one was on it. USDAW would not tell it's members to accept 25% job losses because less people were shopping in Tesco's. The RMT wouldn't dare tell it's members that because only one person brought a ticket at Blackburn ticket office on the late shift it should shut to protect profits. The CWU however thinks it's in it's members best interest to take it all lying down and to get on with it.

And yet...all those things came to pass.

Not being straight with members has never protected a single job unless we perhaps count your "job". I mean what would you do with your day if you weren't struggling to pontificate on behalf of the working classes?

Perhaps get a real job?
f**k me that would be bleak.

How wrong can one reply be? All those unions have fought and maintained jobs. The postal industry isn't even in decline. It's a multi-billion pound money spinner. The railway industry is supported by massive amounts of public money that the postal workers can only dream of. It is the CWU's fault, like it was with it's predecessors.

The parcel delivery industry is a multi-billion pound money spinner.
The postal industry is taking its final rattling wheezy breaths.

No all you've done is clarify how much you agree with management and the CWU bureaucrats to bin off the mail service and declare roll on Amazon. That is your "cause" and that is why all your tropes are directed against the left, those creaming off the profits made by postal workers for more than a decade - the billionaires - don't get a mention in your little outbursts. How original you've come up with Thatcher's declaration TINA - you can add "let the lame ducks go to the wall" in your "wheezing breath" analogy for the USO.

'who we are and what we do'? It's the postal industry, with postal workers providing the labour that makes the profit. Only the CWU could tell those workers there's no profit in what they're doing yet remain silent about the millions paid out to the bosses in wages.

You have written at length about what you are against, repeatedly. Now state succinctly what it is you are for? What do you want?

The CWU is not saying there's no profit in what we do.
They are saying there's no sustainable profit in the way we do it.

I would argue all day long that the way both management and the union intend to resolve that is riddled with flaws and potential catastrophe but the fact that something has to change is undeniable.

The self-organisation of workers to fight for their independent interests and take back what is rightfully theirs the profits they produce to fund well paid jobs and decent working conditions not the enrichment of a handful of billionaires and renationalisation of all public utilities under workers control.

Laudable aims however, shouldn’t you be lobbying MPs or trying to get elected yourself on that platform, instead of attacking the people, union members, you presumably want to join forces with you?

Renationalisation is the CWU’s aim also, splinter groups with the same goal simply fracture the vote and then no one wins.

The "splinter group" opposing the renationalisation of Royal Mail is the CWU Postal Executive. Renationalisation of Royal Mail is CWU policy but the executive has thrown its full weight behind the Kretinsky take-over . How is that for "unofficial action" by an unaccountable union bureaucracy. Anyone reading this thread will see the PWRFC is standing up for the members not making attacks on them like Walsh through imposing the overhaul of the mail service through USO "reform".
