They weren’t officially permanent full time so if there was a process in place across the board where no non driver can be given a permanent full time contract then they simply wouldn’t have been given the permanent contract and either remained on the variation or put back to part timeBarnacle wrote: ↑06 Mar 2025, 08:34Not necessarily. Those who were PT on a variation have just had those same hours made permanent. They haven’t had their hours increased - or shouldn’t have.qwerty2 wrote: ↑06 Mar 2025, 07:5310 years ago I was told I couldn’t go FT because you had to be a driver- so I’ve been connedAcca Dacca wrote: ↑05 Mar 2025, 20:23Im only responding to the PT non drivers partBarnacle wrote: ↑05 Mar 2025, 20:19Offices vary in makeup of course, so there are few blanket rules but, if you are in a pilot office and are made up to FT as part of the prep for the pilot, it is a variation of contract and not permanent unless it is changed to permanent at some point after the pilot.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑05 Mar 2025, 20:00and mineA2B wrote: ↑05 Mar 2025, 19:57Well it's happened in our officeqwerty2 wrote: ↑05 Mar 2025, 19:50PT Non drivers aren’t allowed to go FT thanks to the thick unionCrowseer wrote: ↑05 Mar 2025, 11:16No one knows. Ive asked the union and their assumption is "well you can go FT". A lot of people wont be happy with the results". Not idealclaretandblue wrote: ↑26 Feb 2025, 07:07It keeps being said that part timers will be made up to full time , what if they don't want to? PT non drivers who were on variation have just been made permanent in my office![]()
This next stage, where they need full timers to make the pilots work, is where you could argue to be made up in your office. There is no blanket rule because the make up of each office is different so get ready to argue your case.
Part of the reason for using the temporary variation contract would have been to give the business the power to do just that if they chose to- and they never
All non driving variation contracts were made permanent in my office
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Surely with around 50% of delivery people being part time the union should have a dedicated officer for part time employees? Everything is about full timers, go back through the posts in this forum and see if you can find answers to a question regarding part timers? How many pounds do part time workers pay the CWU every single week?

Don't think the number is anywhere near 50% more like 30%.Thommo44 wrote: ↑06 Mar 2025, 14:26Crowseer wrote: ↑05 Mar 2025, 11:16No one knows. It is still a sizeable minority that don't have a voice.
How many reps are part timers? How many reps have ever been part time?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Any updates on the trial offices? when this gets pushed through then how long before we see this in all offices, I heard its over 18 months but that may have been hearsay. Is there actually anyone on this forum that is part of a trial office.?!

Probably as soon as the trial is over, RM will declare it a success and roll it out everywhere.claretandblue wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 10:38It will more than likely get pushed through by the end of this summer.hewittinspain wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 10:37Any updates on the trial offices? when this gets pushed through then how long before we see this in all offices, I heard its over 18 months but that may have been hearsay. I work in a pilot office but it has not started at mine yet.hewittinspain wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 10:37Any updates on the trial offices? when this gets pushed through then how long before we see this in all offices, I heard its over 18 months but that may have been hearsay. Only one pilot is live. It is in a small rural office of around 20 walks. Fatigue has become an issue for those taking several days Mail every day. The person doing the parcels and 1c is clearing no bother because of course 2c outnumbers 1c and packets by 5-1.
If it is forced through at the end of the trials, it will be the forcing through of failure and a signal that they want to force the end of letters, sooner rather than later.

Re: USO pilots, can anyone on the trial give an honest appraisal
The business is already planning to roll this out in the summer, I can't see anyway the trial won't be declared a success, although perhaps they'll have to look again at all the duties remaining the same the length, until 2c drops off further it seems impossible to deliver 2 & 3 days mail every day of the week.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 10:51Probably as soon as the trial is over, RM will declare it a success and roll it out everywhere.claretandblue wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 10:38It will more than likely get pushed through by the end of this summer.hewittinspain wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 10:37Any updates on the trial offices? when this gets pushed through then how long before we see this in all offices, I heard its over 18 months but that may have been hearsay. Re: USO pilots, can anyone on the trial give an honest appraisal
It's fairly easy to deliver two duties tracked in one day but impossible to deliver two days mail on the busy days of the week. Whilst it's easy to say posties can work 30 mins+ a day but nobody seems to realise the average postie is probably ageing not youngsters.Barnacle wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 10:55I work in a pilot office but it has not started at mine yet.hewittinspain wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 10:37Any updates on the trial offices? when this gets pushed through then how long before we see this in all offices, I heard its over 18 months but that may have been hearsay.
