Any other trial offices layout being completely changed ? Are whole office is being moved about, instead of drop bags we are mow going to have little cages for small packets. Not sure the thinking behind that as we cannot remove them during sorting like we do with the bags .

They keep telling us there is now
Scope to make people up to full time. I fail to see how this whole process is supposed to be about saving money yet they are throwing money at turning the office upside down and upgrading contacts. Madness what they are doing.

Nearly every duty is being changed with some rurals being completely changed meaning the duty holder needs retrained and the entirety of the ips frames also changing. Guys who have sorted for 30 years are now basically new starts
So Ur office is being changed to delivery 2.0?
With one large frame?
All the duty holders lost their duty.
Perhaps u can start a new thread called hero's office.
That way u can keep us all updated on everything that's going on.

It keeps being said that part timers will be made up to full time , what if they don't want to? What's the plan then ?

Been no mention of one large frame or delivery 2.0
Duty holders seemingly keeping their duty but it will be made up of different streets and roads in most cases.
As for those who don’t want made up to
Full time , there hasn’t been a discussion about that but quite a few have said they are happy on lesser hours.

No one knows. Ive asked the union and their assumption is "well you can go FT". When I explained I didnt want FT and neither do any of the others in our office he said something along the lines of "well that might be a problem when we do the preference exercise. A lot of people wont be happy with the results". Not ideal

Offices vary in makeup of course, so there are few blanket rules but, if you are in a pilot office and are made up to FT as part of the prep for the pilot, it is a variation of contract and not permanent unless it is changed to permanent at some point after the pilot.

Yes so in the recent uplift, 11000 were given the option to have their hours made permanent.

I am talking about anyone who is made up to FT for the pilot - it will be a variation of contract.

Maybe this is in relation to the unions efforts to 'encourage non drivers to drive' in their Facebook post this week.

With the job the way it is now, who on earth would willingly drive for the company if they don't already.

Not necessarily. Those who were PT on a variation have just had those same hours made permanent. They haven’t had their hours increased - or shouldn’t have.

This next stage, where they need full timers to make the pilots work, is where you could argue to be made up in your office. There is no blanket rule because the make up of each office is different so get ready to argue your case.

In the assumption that they go with 3 covering 4 duties, 2 are going to need to be drivers.
The majority of rest day covers will need to be drivers as will reserves.
I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting a full time contract if you don't drive.
