Overtime

Probably been discussed already but like most offices we have had a ban on overtime and working day off.
Been like that now since Christmas was over.

Question is a many who have worked day off for a long time including myself hadn’t really an issue until last few weeks there seems to be same 9 or 10 getting to cover there duties on their day off whilst others are being told no. Is that the same anywhere else ?

That's the CWU fault. They have weekly resource meetings where the overtime is agreed. Ask your rep why they have let you down.

Tale from our office:

Grafter on old contract asks for overtime as they would usually get 10-15 hours a week doing a mix of day off and afternoon parcels. Said they might have to leave and find another job if this keeps up. Manager: There's the door.

New contract staff under 6 months in the job, says they will leave due to no overtime. Manager: How much do you want.

Will speak with union rep and now you mention it have noticed new starts heading out in afternoon with parcels after there route.
I know overtime isn’t a given but having done it for years , it makes some difference on payslip when it disappears. If its done fairly i have no issue. Cheers

How many DOs actually have a rep? The last time that the list was put up on our union board of every last union position across all office types in the area covered by our MC was put up, over 3/4 of DOs didn't have a rep

Less than 6 months here, mine have told me no overtime, I don't want the overtime I just want paying for the time I have run over and they said no.....can't wait to get them for paying less than minimum wage.

And that's also the CWU's fault. Those reps that didn't get picked off during the dispute saw what happened to their peers and thought f**k that. The CWU is the problem, full stop.
