Overtime ban still in place, I'm assuming in other offices too?

We have complained all the way up as directed by the CWU, easily fit all the metrics of vacancies and staff sickness - sickness which is increasing, funnily enough.
To say that overtime rates are the same as they always are at this time of year is incredibly misleading - does that mean double for office A but none at all for office B?

The whole thing is very bizarre. We were offered overtime to come in to do our walk on our day off this week - we both already made other commitments so couldn't. When we came in this morning, only tracked packets done yesterday and we were prepared to clear the two days mail but was told flat out by DOM that no extended was allowed today.

So, they were prepared to pay 14 hours overtime for our day off but not prepared to pay an hour each that it would have taken to clear the whole walk - very odd.

Tell them to put in writing! They won't.....and the reason for that is because they are trying to show that the current duties are achievable. If you really wanted to complete the walks then what you could do is deliver all the mail first and ring your manager and tell them that you now have 20 or 30 large Tracked items to deliver but there will only be 10 minutes of the day left and as we are not allowed any overtime, what do you want me to do?? You've got them over a barrel and just put them on the spot because regardless of the trials that the Union has agreed, managers are still not supposed to be prioritising the parcels over the letters.

So you would either have to bring those parcels back as "delivery not attempted" as instructed or they would have to pay you guys the overtime. One or two savvy posties have been doing this in our office and this has forced management to start paying delivery excess again.

What’s the deal with NHS letters? Do these just arrive the week before people are booked to have an operation or something? Or is it a PR thing to say they are prioritising them.

Always been that way at our office. No prioritising these but I hear some offices have been.

There will never be a strict overtime ban per se because the business relies on it to get the work done. Managers may be forced to use the overrunning procedure, rather than us, due to office budgets but at the end of the day they are still tasked with trying to get all the parcels and mail delivered.

This is the only way you will get around this sort of management and keep your sanity twoloops

We are literally getting out of the door half an hour later than we did before due to things not being ready. There has been 4 people on OT in our section doing parcels and mail, there are normally 15+ people in early. People are failing duties due to the OT cutbacks

Exactly, like someone has mentioned on a different thread RM managers are 'firefighting' rather than managing and have been since 2020. It's their job to try and bully OPGs into clearing offices and always has been whilst still collecting their cash bonus.
