I'd say he definitely hasn't a clue and if he thinks an 11 hour day on delivery is a viable option then he shouldn't really be guessing eithermalawihap wrote: ↑14 Feb 2025, 21:51What will happen to posties like me who went down to part time , i do a Monday to Wendesday for 4 weeks then the next 4 weeks i do Thursday to Saturday. Depends on how many hours you do. 18 hours a week is normally set over 3 days but 24hrs is 4 days and 30 hours they can get you in over 5 days. If it's 3 full time days you do then realistically they could spread that over 4 part time days.malawihap wrote: ↑14 Feb 2025, 21:51What will happen to posties like me who went down to part time , i do a Monday to Wendesday for 4 weeks then the next 4 weeks i do Thursday to Saturday. I'd hazard a guess he's on 22 hourspostiewhite wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 15:13Depends on how many hours you do. 18 hours a week is normally set over 3 days but 24hrs is 4 days and 30 hours they can get you in over 5 days. In that case he can just do a 22 hour day and that's it for the week. 6 rest days and one day of work.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 15:48I'd hazard a guess he's on 22 hourspostiewhite wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 15:13Depends on how many hours you do. 18 hours a week is normally set over 3 days but 24hrs is 4 days and 30 hours they can get you in over 5 days. what’s wrong with 11 hour days? loads of people work 11-12 hour days. 4-5 hours inside a break and 6-7 hours out.scoobydo79 wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 13:2411 hour day lol. Re: USO pilots, can anyone on the trial give an honest appraisal
Why can't the CWU push for every postie to agree a new way of working with Royal Mail in terms of flexibility, with each postie agreeing the set hours they want to work, with flexibility built in.
I'd happily go from the 5 day week I am currently working (no overtime) to a 3 or 4 day week but with an agreement to do up to an hour worth of overtime on my own round during those 3 or 4 days if it is needed.
I feel this would be beneficial to both Royal Mail and posties. Much more flexibility to allow duties to be completed with posties working less days.

610- 1730 yeah why not? it’s couple hours ips OT in morning then going 45mins over on delivery isn’t unheard of.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 19:33Really....what at royal mail as a delivery post person ?postmanzach wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 19:02what’s wrong with 11 hour days? loads of people work 11-12 hour days. 4-5 hours inside a break and 6-7 hours out.scoobydo79 wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 13:2411 hour day lol. There definitely needs to be more flexibility if they bring this new method in, seemed to be a bit more of it during Covid. Will there be? Time will tell…norris9 wrote: ↑15 Feb 2025, 20:57Why can't the CWU push for every postie to agree a new way of working with Royal Mail in terms of flexibility, with each postie agreeing the set hours they want to work, with flexibility built in.

Re: USO pilots, can anyone on the trial give an honest appraisal
You'd just be working your hours. If you go from 5 days to 4 days and don't buy down your hours, you have a days hours from a 5 day week split between 4 days, which will be an hour and whatever per day
