Accidents not recorded
A couple of days ago, a fellow posie had an accident that they may or may have not contributed to. The accident was reported however an accident form hasn't been drawn up and signed nor does it look like any investigation has been set in motion yet. Thoughts? I'd have thought standard policy would be to at least get the accident signed off within 24 hours?

Re: Accidents not recorded
I've been told any accident reflects badly against your manager and his bonus fault or non fault just when you think it can't get any worse

If they can get away with hiding an accident, they will, targets of 0 accidents as if that's something they can possibly guarantee.

Re: Accidents not recorded
All accidents should be reported on the ERICA and the Area Safety Rep notified. Any workplace accidents need to be properly investigated and if you don't think that the RM managers are carrying it through, you really need to report it to the health and safety rep.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Accidents not recorded
How convenient to stop accident recording in (ACCIDENT BOOK,) and just writing details on a piece of paper that just disappears

Not sure it has anything to do with a bonus, potentially maybe a COM protecting someone as most accidents now will trigger some form of conduct or 3Cs conversation. All accidents or near misses should be recorded tho regardless

If you/they whoever it was sends. text message to their manager within 48hours should be ok. Wouldn’t trust verbal communication.

Re: Accidents not recorded
I went A over T end of last month and did my back in - messaged my manager when it happened, and later that evening to say I wouldn't be in the next day as I was in too much pain - I asked about an accident form in that message. Asked a couple of times when I was back in, and nothing - had to ask a different manager to sort it in the end (have just requested a copy of it as well). So glad that I at least have the messages to cover my arse and show I'd reported the accident, as they've put me on a s**t walk this next week that I'm going to see if I can avoid doing - they've got me with a non-driver on a walk I don't know, so I'll have to do all the driving and the big packets myself - that's just going to f**k my back up again, and I'm not risking aggravating it.Simondavid wrote: ↑14 Feb 2025, 22:51How convenient to stop accident recording in (ACCIDENT BOOK,) and just writing details on a piece of paper that just disappears
The manager is useless, but I'm a new starter which makes it more awkward for me. Trying to make sure I have all my ducks in a row, and hoping I won't be here much longer - passed an assessment for a new job, just waiting to get a training day through.
