Would certain people get to permanently work on their own in this new model ?

Some duties would be better suited as singletons with one person delivering everything to the area. Others are going to work best as van shares to eliminate dead walking however it is not the Royal Mail way to introduce efficient working.

Definitely, that's why they planned some of our singletons with long stretches of houses only on one side of the road

I find I work best by myself and I’m far more productive.

A couple of people I work with on a van share make out it’s a race whether they’re a driver or walker. Majority are good to be fair but there’s always a couple that feel they deserve a tap on the back for making it back to the van first.

One of which I caught actually sprinting up a hill to the pick up point and then standing there tapping his foot as if he’d been waiting an age

Most people prefer working alone, but it amazes me the amount of posties that actually don't mind or prefer taking as much mail/parcels in their red carry bags as possible with the strap digging into your shoulder and with it awkward to manage.

The damned job was all about being on the street yourself (until it wasn't)! I get on with almost everyone I've ever worked with, yet I passionately hate P&L.
