Yep my office has been the same since 2020. The incredible thing is we haven't ever been included on the s**t list. Management are sneaky lying overpaid bastardstoonshola wrote: ↑01 Feb 2025, 09:57We can only clear most our deliveries now if it’s a dead Tuesday with no d2ds that week. Busy days we end up leaving a full half of the van shares mail and keep rotating until we get a quiet day to catch up. This has been happening for over 4 years. For anyone who might be listening I’ll state now our office will burn to the ground if we are asked to do double mail mon-fri.
It. Can. Not. Be. Done.
I’m sure all the pilot offices will be a huge success though so time to accept this s**t will be coming to us all soon.

RM will already know approximately how much each employment tribunal won against them will cost. There's bound to come a point where they'll decide the hit they'd take from paying out in employment tribunals will be cheap enough to force out anyone who's not on a contract with driving

It's worse than that, it will be triple mail every Monday and Tuesday.toonshola wrote: ↑01 Feb 2025, 09:57We can only clear most our deliveries now if it’s a dead Tuesday with no d2ds that week. Are there any documents we can see that indicate how the system would work in practice?
How many people wiil cover so many duties etc. How many duties will be covered doing parcels and 1st class letters.
I know 2nd class would be delivered every other day.

3 will cover 4 duties, with the 1 doing 1st class and parcels on 2 duties.

Which may actually be illegal depending on what their arguements are, however since most of the new starters will be on the contract and will likely be younger I guess an age discrimination case isn't far away.Londonsburning wrote: ↑31 Jan 2025, 16:27The funny thing is, there already is a two-tier workforce due to wage disparitytramssirhc wrote: ↑31 Jan 2025, 16:22No. The CWU has realised they'd agreed to alienate a significant number of their members and have stated that there can be no two-tier workforce where one group get every Saturday off. Non-drivers are going to be as busy as drivers.

Nobody is being 'getting rid of', or having to take RM to an employment tribunal. What is happening here is that instead of 6 days available to do a walking duty, it's going to be 5. There is plenty work Mon-Fri for staff who don't drive. Not a job I fancy doing with 2-3 days mail every day, but I expect them to sell it with at least every other Saturday off. Maybe indoor work on their rota'd Saturday putting the 3 days worth of mail into frames for Monday - who knows. If it comes in the future that mail volumes drop and they do a 3 day delivery that other countries do, Mon-Wed-Fri, who knows?
If they then need people to drive, then they pay for their driving lessons etc. It's not rocket science. Happens the world over in all types of companies. You'd need a good reason to refuse paid training to perform a role.

Can't rotate anything if 2 of the 3 staff don't have driving licenses to deliver tracked and 1st class. They are stuck with the 2c double mail days.hewittinspain wrote: ↑31 Jan 2025, 22:47Definitely an uneven work load unless the 3 workers rotate the load each week. Two people taking out double mail on two duties with heavy bags, possible use of trollies due to having 6-7 bundles per loop just isn't doable unless the indoor workload is reduced and the outdoor work is increased by an hour. The 3rd person that has to do all tracked and 1C could potentially have an easier day than the delivery pairing but I don't know how many 1C letters "on average" would there be on two duties combined? I would hope the outdoor work would rotate between the 3.
Whatever the scenario it seems to me that the outdoor work would definitely need to be aimed at being at least an hour longer than it is now.
If two duties take 4.5hrs for example then two duties of double mail would take 5.5hrs to 6hrs I would say

That's highly unlikely, only 3 in our office, all with 25 years plus seniority.abuch1980 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2025, 19:25Can't rotate anything if 2 of the 3 staff don't have driving licenses to deliver tracked and 1st class. Not as easy as " we pay for their driving lessons" some are classed as having a disability hence their duty is ring fenced and not to be picked by anyone else.Perseus wrote: ↑02 Feb 2025, 11:10Nobody is being 'getting rid of', or having to take RM to an employment tribunal. Disabilities are obviously protected, that goes without saying surely? Hence the final line in the post you quoted.abuch1980 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2025, 19:31Not as easy as " we pay for their driving lessons" some are classed as having a disability hence their duty is ring fenced and not to be picked by anyone else.Perseus wrote: ↑02 Feb 2025, 11:10Nobody is being 'getting rid of', or having to take RM to an employment tribunal. With the slow trend of DOs being moved onto industrial estates where there's probably no public transport, they'll eventually be forced to be able to drivePerseus wrote: ↑08 Feb 2025, 20:38Disabilities are obviously protected, that goes without saying surely? You said driving licence, not driving, that's a separate matter.abuch1980 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2025, 19:33Only 3 in your office ?
