If we stop getting the d2d supplement then I'm not doing door to doors anymore. That's what the payment is for right :dance

Keep it real. Stop misquoting me.

1. The agreement with EP states that we will equalise new entrants pay , terms and conditions over an agreed period of time within a career path with a first step being applied within 3 months of a takeover.

Remember new entrants pay, terms and conditions were imposed. There are circa 21 thousand new entrants in position currently all will see their pay, terms and conditions improved.

There are 14 differences in their contract compared to a legacy one. 11 of them inferior and three better. We will be equalising them all over an agreed period of time.

The functional supplements will remain. They will not be lost.

The discussion we will have is every part of Royal Mail earn at least £11.40 per week in a functional supplement so should we consolidate this amount into basic pensionable pay.
This sounds very similar to the promises the Labour party made in their manifesto and as soon as they got into power claimed the deficit was far worse than they anticipated so had to raise taxes etc, there's simply no way a company already struggling to make a profit is suddenly going to give 21K+ employees an inflation busting pay rise.

It could well be seen as a loss leader, keep the troops quiet while the real plan is put into action.

There's a reason why EP have bought a "struggling" company and it's not to throw money down the drain

I assume Sunday working isnt included in this ''equalisation''?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

I would also expect that Sunday working is one of the items/areas of difference — something that I doubt can/will be removed, especially as Sunday ops look to be a big area of growth for the company and something that’s here to stay.

But i am hoping that Martin Walsh will, as requested, list the 14 points of difference between the two contracts, rather than just asserting there are 14 differences but with no further detail. Martin, can you please enlighten us?

Whilst we're waiting perhaps we could start to compile our own list, the aspects I can think of are :
Negatives
1. Lower rate of pay
2. No delivery supplement
3. No paid breaks
4. Monthly pay
5. Month's notice when leaving
6. Sunday working as part of contract

Positives
1. Overtime paid at 1.25 over 40 hours
2. 40 hour contracts can be offered

Can anyone think of the others ?

Probably list Sunday working as a positive for some. A light day on parcels instead of a full week on the bags.

it doesn’t say d2d supplement technical you don’t get one already. it’s called a delivery supplement people get it that don’t deliver any d2ds.

Are they changing the way pay is calculated to an automatic system directly tied to clocking in and out? My LM hinted at this yesterday when they told me I couldn't book my overtime for the day before because "today is quiet see if it evens out". Well it didn't and I am owed the overtime like I thought but now not sure if they will keep telling me "no because.......lots of managers b/s". Been here just 3 months and it's constantly a pile of excuses as to why somethings aren't done according to policy, with me knowing full well that if I don't follow the rules I'll get sacked.

A good list, Ted. Although it is subjective, I personally would move the month’s notice down to positives though —it is a two-way thing, with the business needing to give the employee a month’s notice too.

Until Martin Walsh deigns us with a response, we will just have to take his word for it that there are 14 differences, 11 negative, 3 positive.

The month's notice came in in 2018, so it doesn't just apply to the people on the "new" contract.

The differences could also include any other supplements like RRIS. Also the new contract has a level of mobility as the Sunday working is often at a different office, certainly adverts in my area say this. There could also be a chance that Sunday working for all may come in, with maybe 1 in 4 or 1 in 6. Whatever RM/EP offer, there will certainly be a price to pay for anything they give.

Different people have different priorities. I signed up for a 40-hr “Wednesday to Sunday contract”, as it was euphemistically referred to, working every Sunday, and remain happy with those terms. (Like all other new-entrant OPGs, my contract actually says that I can be required to work anytime between 6.00 am and 10.00 pm Monday to Sunday.)

This with bells on.

I’m still owed overtime from last month.

I’ll be getting regular overtime because I’m covering a fella which would mean I exceed my hours by quite a bit, but I’m not confident I’ll be getting that money. If I’m unpaid the time I’m owed again next month I’ll be leaving, which isn’t something I want to do because I really enjoy the job.

The sooner this Dan bloke comes in and kicks these useless managers into touch the better and more productive his workforce will be… obviously that’s a big assumption he’s going to kick them into touch :pray
