Managerial shenanigans
So I know that there will be some Doms/Coms who browse this forum and I would like to know if this is legitimate.
We have an OPG who has a rolling off day I.e Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday etc etc. Last week he went off on annual leave for a week but began his leave on Wednesday. His designated off day that week was Thursday but he claimed for 7 hours overtime on the Tuesday before his leave began and on a day that he was actually meant to be working. It would appear to me that my Manager has swapped his off day so that he can be paid for 6 days of work, 5 + 1 overtime day even though he was scheduled to work his overtime day as a normal day. Surely this can't be right, he is a long standing friend of our Manager so I have a feeling that he is being given preferential treatment. Or have I read the situation wrong in that because he works his off day most weeks his day off can be changed to accommodate the needs of the business?
Either way I think that it isn't right that this should be allowed to happen but would like some clarification from someone in the know before I decide whether to make a complaint and take it further. Thanks.

Re: Managerial shenanigans
On the face of it, it seems unusual, but without seeing the PSP leave plan of the individual concerned it's difficult for anybody to know exactly what has occurred.RICARD020191962 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2025, 19:56So I know that there will be some Doms/Coms who browse this forum and I would like to know if this is legitimate.

One thought that did cross my mind is that he could be claiming O/T for a public day off in lieu he was granted but now he's not going to be able to get in before the change of the annual leave year and the manager told him to claim it in this way?

Re: Managerial shenanigans
100% day off was scheduled for Thursday when his leave began on Wednesday, he returned to work last week and claimed overtime for working his day off on the Friday. As I said he has a rolling day off and has worked every day off in 2025 so far so I can see no other explanation other than collusion between him and my DOM to ensure that he gets his overtime as usual that week despite being on leave when his scheduled off day falls.
It is not something I expected from my DOM, he is a stickler for the rules but it is certainly what I would expect from the OPG who is the most self centred , greedy individual I have ever encountered. So I have to tread very carefully before I decide to take matters any further.

Re: Managerial shenanigans
Not being funny so please don’t take this the wrong way but can I ask why you’re bothered?
Not saying it’s the case here but for some peculiar reason postmen seem to spend their whole time particularly interested in what other people are doing. It is a weird trait that some seem to have…… in fact I’d say it’s a bit creepy. Some in our office seem to spend their whole time (that’s spent indoors) watching what others are or aren’t doing & then when they can’t do that ( delivery time) they seem to assume they know what others are or aren’t doing. I don’t know whether they’re aware but it is in fact a form of intimidation & bullying to constantly watch, talk about & criticise work colleagues.
As I say that may not be the case here & you may have a legitimate reason to want to know the ins & outs of the situation you have commented on.

Re: Managerial shenanigans
Point taken and you are quite right in a lot of what you say.
However our Manager has basically terminated the employment of several individuals recently for breaches such as non delivery of d2ds and vehicle misdemeanours. As I said before he is a stickler for the rules so I find it difficult to believe that he would be complicit in any subterfuge previously referred to. The paper trail does indicate it to be the case however from the weekly rotas to the P552 with the overtime claim on a scheduled work day..
Again I take your point regarding why should I be interested in this but should we all just turn a blind eye and allow this kind of thing to go unchallenged?

That was Bodie and Doyle methinks.
Ok, will let it slide, probably a very good explanation for what occurred.

This is good, we need more people like you to start pulling up all the corrupt "looking after their mates" stuff that goes on.RICARD020191962 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2025, 19:56So I know that there will be some Doms/Coms who browse this forum and I would like to know if this is legitimate.

Re: Managerial shenanigans
What do we do when we have actual evidence that LMs are telling us to mark parcels as inaccesible because we don't have time to deliver them in our shift? Pretty sure reporting that to Royal Mail it will just be ignored.
Is the electric van running out of charge a good reason to mark as inaccesible or should the PDA have another option for the leccy vans?

You can still report it. If everyone does then Royal Mail can't say publicly that there's no evidence this goes on. They said that to one of the papers when this was in the news a few weeks ago.Newandscared wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 08:32What do we do when we have actual evidence that LMs are telling us to mark parcels as inaccesible because we don't have time to deliver them in our shift? I get these regularly from the LATs or after I've had a day off. They're mostly for houses they can't find on new builds or rurals but I have had days where about 20 items were 'inaccessible' the day before so they clearly just ran out of time.
There isn't an option for 'can't find address' but there should be. It'd be more honest and many customers who live down these dark country lanes would understand.
Scanning these items to core route the next day the PDA says they're to be booked into the callers office due to an inflight request so that's where they go. Drives the callers staff mad as they have to check the items, find out the customer hasn't actually requested this, and the item gets put out for redelivery the following day. They get two or three dozen some days.
When I deliver the item I tell the customer the truth and encourage them to complain. I know 99% won't, but some do. I've seen the complaints!
When we first started lying about reasons for non-delivery we were told to scan things as 'retention'. That stopped one day, clearly due to an edict from above.
Hopefully 'inaccessible' will go the same way apart from genuine cases.

Re: Managerial shenanigans
Regarding the PDA reporting book in to CSP if it's any help you can check that yourself if you want to save bothering taking them to the callers, it's in the pda menu under "inflight" you find it by swiping right from the 1st 'main' menu screen it tells you if there's an actual inflight request or not.GizzardPuke wrote: ↑06 Feb 2025, 01:51You can still report it. "Delivery not attempted"
"Delivery not attempted"
Indoor - enquiry office - record not delivered item - scan it then select delivery not attempted
