Pouch Boxes are being Refurbished / Replaced / Painted in the area i Live

We still use them for hct duties, also the duties closest to the office have to come back to refill, I've read comments on here that someone will say they can only just fit their full duty in the trolley, surely they must be doing hardly any parcels which must be a real inefficient way of working if someone else, dpr maybe is doing most of the parcels.

You could be referencing me, I dunno, but I sometimes have this problem and there is no one to drive bags out to me and no places to leave bags, for me to go back office and load up with 2nd half and commence duty again, I lose an absolute minimum of 25 mins, usually about 30-35 mins, especially if a train come along, once I lost 40 mins repleneshing, bloody joke.

Ah maybe so, sorry no disrespect or anything intended if I sounded that way didn't mean to, yes as you say bit of a joke, in the old days bag drops were arranged in people's sheds and shops etc but surely we won't go back to that, maybe they might have to try a bit harder to arrange for someone to bring bags out as obviously you can't fit everything in.

Oh, no worries at all mate, I was just saying. I would prefer bag drops in sheds like when I first started. trouble in my DO is we only have 8 duties and the postie on 10 duty does a small town delivery and the heavy and large off of the town rounds, mine included, and he/she whoever is on it, everyone struggles just to get it all done on time, like today, my colleague (on 10 duty) came back on the dot at scan out time, so whoever is on 10 duty doesn't really have the time I'm afraid. My manager yesterday said he doesn't want us coming back to load up with more, but that just means piling even more on 10 duty heavy and large, uinless of course o.t is available and we want to go over.

Bouch mentioned some royal mail algorithm where if a DP has a first class letter, then the rest of the mail would be released by the machine.

That's been the case for a while, @spacephoenix can explain it fully.

He was talking specifically about the non delivery day.

It's on the video at the 12 minute point. It sounds like slightly adapting 'the algorithm' of the current DTS system.

It now seems the plan is to hold 2nd class machinable until the next day unless there is a 1st class letter for that DP too.

I'd like to know what he means by 'machinable'. Does he mean just A5 sized stuff that arrives sequenced in the Perstops
or does it include magazines like the Radio TImes?

If the Radio Times (and other magazines) are not 'machinable' would they still get pushed out to the DO's to be sorted?

Is DSA A5 classed as second class 'machinable'? If so that means that those items would be getting a faster service than the
4/5 day DTS at the moment!

They've not yet confirmed if we'll still sort the 1C and 2C together at the inward MC, with the 2C being extracted at the DO, or if we'll process the 2C on a different day. If we're just running 1C only at night, frankly some nights we might as well send it manual as it won't be worth running the machines

If it all comes to the Do. It will be sorted and delivered on the day it arrives, no point walking up the path with a 1c or tracked and leaving a 2c behind

If we're only supposed to be delivering 1c taking out 2c will totally confuse everybody.

I thought one recent suggestion by the CWU was that additional 1c frames were being installed at the trial DO's?

Sounds like we'll run the mech as normal but on day 5 instead of automatically being released, it'll get held until day 6.

As it stands it still leaves 2C manual letters, flats and packets going out to the DOs with the 2C for them being extracted in the DOs

You can work from home - get everyone on your round to come and collect their mail and parcels

Given how we managed to deliver an entire town with bikes alone and two bag drop vans back in the day, given how letters have dropped off you could easily cover the town side of my office by making the ‘bike’ routes bigger and putting more vans in there for oversized parcels and getting the bags out.

But as you say that would involve people who have actually done the job since those years being consulted. What a ridiculous idea.
