For our office, the pilot is in the planning stage, but as it currently stands, HCTs will work as usual.
Thanks for the info

Still no clearer about non drivers and HCT routes
By the looks of it every 4 rounds will need 3 posties and 2 of them must drive
Yeah I see that but what about HCT duties, all gone? They make sense in dense urban areas, will it be a blanket ban on HCT or will they be used if that's the best delivery method?

Most of the senior posties in our office don't drive for RM, going to be a massive shock to the system for them if they have to van share, I already feel bad for their future partner

HCT's work as usual? What about days when that route doesn't get anything but small tracked and 1C letters? Some duties in ours, on a normal day would have roughly 50 delivery points with anything on those days. RM aren't going to be paying someone to walk around delivering so few items.

When are the union going to come out and admit what's staring us all in the face- for every 4 posties, 1 is going to lose their job.
That's the reality.
We all know it's not going to work, but that's not going to matter.
The union HAVE stated that if the pilots are success/if the USO changes, it will mean job losses of approx. 10,000.

However, it seems even now as though RM are gearing up for those job losses regardless.
Pretty sure there's more than 40,000 posties at the moment.
So something doesn't add up does it?
Maybe they can't implement this everywhere due to rurals etc, but even I reckon we're looking at at least 15,000 redundancies eventually.

You don’t have van sharing now?
Thought van sharing was in every office for the last 10 years
No abandoned years ago
Are all your vans singleton duties now? How do the other half of the pairs do their walk without a van?

The HCT routes will work as now. We have about 15 in our office. They are HCT routes for a reason. They will continue to work as they do now because the new gobbledegook pilot system doesn’t work for the HCT routes.

So HCT duties will continue as they are now, and others in the same office (shared van, singleton van etc) will be part of the USO reform? Will HCT duties still continue as they are on a Saturday with all mail and tracked etc like now?

There is no other half, they are single duties

Yes, as it stands in our office, the HTCs will carry on as is because they haven’t come up with a viable alternative. If one of the offices doing the pilot now, comes up with some miraculous solution I’m sure they might try that, but currently the HCTs will be unchanged.

That would be a great result in terms of keeping jobs, although might end up slightly unfair on other rounds who will be expected to make the savings by condensing 6 days worth of anything that isn't 1st class into 2 days one week then 3 days the next.

Rural rounds are also an issue for the pilot system because there is no saving to be had.

Yep, enjoy the light Mondays and Tuesdays at the moment, as they’ll be 3 days worth of mail on these days when this kicks in. Can’t wait…

No reason why rural rounds can''t also drop to delivering 2c every other day? Regardless something will have to be done with rural rounds if 1c/2c post keeps dropping, yesterday in my DO it was hardly worthwhile taking the mail out!
