There is no overtime ban. There's budgets that the CWU has fully agreed with. The CWU knows full well what's happening. The CWU has done nothing to challenge the USO reduction. The days of clear offices ruling are well and truly over. Martin Walsh keeps telling you there's no money.
Really, you seriously think the CWU has influence with regards setting budgets.
Personally I think that’s some 21 yr old just out of uni sitting at a pc in London who says the computer says it’s possible!
The divisional reps sit in on the daily calls. They know full well what's going on.
Thankfully yes, they will know what’s going on, but cannot tell RM what budgets they will work to!
That’s just La la land thoughts!
RM no longer care about customers, just money.
We seen it time & time again, water, gas, etc.

There are lots of vacancies in our local office yet now happily leaving duties uncovered next week rather than let those willing to work their days off come in. They get around this by leaving certain rounds to go out every other day as that’s apparently fine. CWU are going to lose members if you don’t protect overtime as people can go work for any company for minimum wage rather than put up with the politics of Royal Mail management. Remember COMs are glorified supervisors on £48k a year + bonuses yet we’re the ones draining their money. Any other company the bottom tier managers would be on £31k. Disgrace

Hopefully the new owner will see management for what they are. Because in my opinion most of the ones I've seen at RM are well overpaid, lacking leadership ability and no way should be in the position they are. Once you employ people that actually care about the human beings working with them then we will all do better. Until then, it's what you see now.

If managers wages were slashed by £15000 that would cover at least 100 days off worth of overtime per manager and offices would clear more. No need for a manager’s bonus just more hands on deck.

I think it's poor from the CWU to ask people to come forward over this - it's clearly widespread. People don't want a target on their head with all the uncertainty around the job these days.
It’s not as if people are imagining it, or it’s some kind of claw back from a Christmas overspend. This is different and certainly points to the imminent takeover.
Any info out there as to how many offices have actually had success when complaining?
One of the metrics used seems to be as long as the overtime is the same as previous years…..it probably is close, just forget about the huge number of staff that have left and not replaced though.

Imagine what it’s going to be like when 15-20% leave under new delivery method.
That’s certainly gonna take some “managing”.

Part time staff in ours have been doing 10-15 hours OT per week easily for the last 6-12 months covering days off and prep etc due to staff leaving.
In the space of 2 weeks they've a) Thought they were one of the 11,000, b) Told they aren't, then c) put back down to their basic hours and are £100 a week down in wages. Happy New Year, eh.

A few of the older posties that always work their day off, have been told there is no money for them to come in, some have offered to come in for free 🤪

It's everywhere that they've cut back on overtime, not just DOs.

It isn’t much worse than those who still start 30+ minutes early every day. Maybe if they didn’t do that there would be some paid overtime available in their offices?

Even if overtime were to return in the next week or so, the damage will have been done to average holiday pay as such a large break in overtime will make people less likely to qualify for holiday pay if they have weeks off booked in June/July/August.
