Or perhaps it's the management doing the "whining" who need to change their mindset and just accept the senior management want us to clear X% of post per day and not try and clear 100% daily?chickenwittle wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 18:03You need to change your mindset towards the job , see it as working a certain amount of hours a day and things become a lot easier.norris9 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 14:31Manager?chickenwittle wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 13:49A workforce moaning about to much work, you couldn’t make it up.
No postie that doesn't want overtime wants to deliver 2 days mail each week for 3 years and counting.
No postie that doesn't want overtime wants a round that is 30+ minutes too big for most of the year.
Goes without saying.
People want a manageable workload so that they have a sense of achievement at the end of the day, and so that they don't get whined at by management for bringing stuff back and so they can go home in peace and enjoy their afternoon.

Re: Overtime ban
The thing is chickenwittle you’ve fallen into the trap of thinking that because you’ve changed your mindset everyone else should be able to as well. If I’ve learnt one thing over the last few years (and I’m sure many others have come to realise the same with all the talk on mental health) it’s that we’re not all the same! We’re all wired up differently hence why the poster above mentioned about the need (mentally)to be able to complete their days work. It’s fine if you can just say “F**k it, I don’t care how much I cut off, I don’t care if my customers don’t get their stuff” etc etcchickenwittle wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 18:03You need to change your mindset towards the job , see it as working a certain amount of hours a day and things become a lot easier.norris9 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 14:31Manager?chickenwittle wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 13:49A workforce moaning about to much work, you couldn’t make it up.

You see it so often on this forum……a poster flippantly saying “ just do this or that” but it’s not that easy. We are all different and think and act differently.

Where once there was a certain amount of pride doing the job there is no more, but to some that’s incomprehensible.
Royal Mail is going in one direction & that’s down, no delivery will be possible in the near future.

Re: Overtime ban
I get that , I have guys in my office that are wired up just like that but since the dispute even their mindset has shifted ever so slightly. We all start on time now , we all take our breaks at the same time and we all finish on time except those that want ot. There are still plenty of moans and groans now and then but the reality is it’s never going back to what it was and the sooner everyone sees that the better.GRS wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 20:10The thing is chickenwittle you’ve fallen into the trap of thinking that because you’ve changed your mindset everyone else should be able to as well. Three years on from the forced revisions and our walks are still over the place. I'm afraid what doesn't help is the parallel universe of CWU HQ who talk about improving "quality of service" yet agree to trials to suspend the mail for two days. What does improving the "quality of service" actually mean?
It's all BS, RM are more concerned with us checking an app on a PDA than checking in on the elderly or picking their prescriptions up.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Of course they are what’s the benefit to Royal Mail of you checking in on the elderly or picking their prescription up ?postslippete wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 06:35funkflex55 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 16:49There's a real physiological impact on a person that cannot complete the work they should be doing.(Even when unachievable) Impossible walks do damage to the service but also to the humans that cannot complete them. Feeling guilty I had to cut off and bring some back even though I'd already left some in the frame already, least the lapsing got done.

It’s their failure not yours.

Re: Overtime ban
Just been told today as of next week I can longer book ANY overtime, my duty will be covered by a "Floater" and I can no longer work my day off.
Final straw for me is after being pulled by a twat line manager DEMANDING to know why I was stopped for 30 mins during my duty.
Well you twat I HAVE to take a 30 min UNPAID break so what do you think, come on just a little guess.
Oh you EXPECTED me not to take it didn't you.
RM is making Amazon look like like a golden employer.

Re: Overtime ban
I am not defending managers but, when you take your break is decided by local agreement. So if you are stationary for 30mins when out, they are not exceeding their authority by asking what you were doing.menditsa wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 20:07Just been told today as of next week I can longer book ANY overtime, my duty will be covered by a "Floater" and I can no longer work my day off.

Re: Overtime ban
As far as I'm concerned they are.
This LM has been informed numerous times I take my break at a location that facilitates the requirements under GB driving regulations regarding NOT sitting in a van at a location convenient to the Company but detrimental to the driver seeking food or refreshment.
Why am I being watched like a hawk when this data is NOT supposed to be used against us ?
Explain that.
And before you ask, no I'm not a piss taker.

Re: Overtime ban
Are you a lorry driver or a postie who drives between loops? If you are a postie driving between loops, whipping out GB driving regulations is a bit odd because you don’t drive for a long enough period for those regs to apply.menditsa wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 20:33As far as I'm concerned they are.
