Overtime ban

Post by Peabrain22 »

Is this overtime ban going to continue into next week as well because what's going to happen is the public will start calling to the office for an important letter.. it's an absolute disgrace what is happening here.. you'd think we were on a solicitors salary the way these overtime bans are. I know of someone who posted a letter on the 20th of December in london and only received it on Thursday past in the U.K.. I could of crawled quicker with it...

No overtime ban yet at our office but I can see it coming.
As we can't scan in more than 5 mins early or scan out early every minute of overtime is now booked and not flexed. Last week our DOM got a roasting as we were 7hrs over budget on Monday for overtime.

Although we have plenty of rural rounds that double mail as didn't go out on the Saturday.
They've taken 15 mins prep time off all of us, insist we get all D2D in on a monday and then wonder why people book overtime 🙄
Alot just cut off and bring whatever they need too to finish on time as long as tracked and specials are done.

Won't be long before that's the norm and they instruct us to cut off as Overtime is unexpectable

Are you worried? This job has run on o/t since i joined 18yrs ago, and it will continue like that forever, every now and then they throw in these o/t bans and then once they get swamped with mail they decide to let people do it again.
It's up to you if you want o/t, some of us have no interest, so either get used to them stopping it every now and then or find somewhere else to work if you will struggle to cope as i doubt things will change.

What are the CWU supposed to do? OFCOM aren't interested, the government aren't interested and to be honest the majority of the general public aren't interested.

SORT THE f***ing MESS OUT thats what they get paid to do ., look back at the live facebook with walsh , ward and bouch regarding there ground breaking agreement with epl , telling us that they agree to improve the service etc and we should see it getting better in delivery offices , well that was a load of s**t as its worse than it ever was as we are doing 4 loops a day out of 16 loops , but as long as the tracked are done thats all they are interested in and unless they live in a different universe why arent they on it . :evil/mad

Provide the CWU with the service they provide you - leave. Don't give them a penny. It's the only thing they care about and understand. You don't need the CWU, it needs you.

Feel for those of you who are on shorter hours contracts and it really is a massive mistake from both the company and union to have so many part timers.

That being said , an overtime ban makes the job easier , no wilful delay possible and just bring back anything that would take you past your time.

Why do people get so wound up because they can’t complete ? Honestly what’s the point ? , it’s not our fault yet you continue to shout and scream about it , baffles me.

Some of it may be misguided loyalty. People need to get away from thinking that way and just treat the job the way Royal Mail do.

I feel bad that people aren’t getting their items on time but at the end of the day I’m not the one understaffing offices so I bring it back.

I’ve been doing that since the dispute, ask the manager what he would like me to do today, do my best and go home , I don’t get all the outrage, it’s pointless, if Royal Mail wanted to fix it they could do it overnight but they dont and blaming the CWU for that is crazy.
