Apologies if someone has already mentioned this, but if they are making so many up to full time, surely this means bigger rounds? They are not going to give you an extra hour during the summer when there is no overtime without increasing your workload by at least that amount, it’s not a gift

Postie's will only be made up if the DO's duties warrant it, they are not going to make 100's of FT roles if there's insufficient work for them.

3 loops is not and never has been a measurement of duty length. A loop can be 15 minutes or 55 minutes

I’ve been FT for years but my office is totally run on overtime. Early sorters,people working day off - in fact I reckon the 30hr bods outnumber the full timers,easily. Loads of FT’s have left & simply not been replaced.

I’m selfishly hoping the lot got made up…might get my duty properly covered when I’m not in!

Possibly but they will still be offered on seniority so you will likely be one of the last part timers to be offered one if at all if you just started in July last year.

It’s not for me really as I’m full time now although some of the part timers have been given nice duties that were once filled by full timers who have left so if they were given full time contracts there would need to be a repick.

I've been full-time for years yet someone on a cushy part-time round working on their own has now got a full-time contract to boot. It f***ing stinks. Bring on the revision and re-pick.

I agree. It all stinks. Part timers and supernumeraries all junior to me have all got their own walks and don't have to move duties. In my case as soon as peak is over and volumes decline I'm moved around the office on walks I haven't done for a decade just because I don't cause trouble.

Bring on anything that rights this blatant discrimination. If we are going to use seniority then it has to apply to everybody.

The CWU are absolutely useless! The CWU stands for Communication Workers' Union yet they cannot clearly communicate with us...

Nobody answering people's questions about this on Twitter/X and nobody answering us on here. I get it - it's a Sunday, but I doubt they'd even bother answering our questions on this even if it was a Monday.

Why release this information on a Saturday then leave us all hanging!

They also blocked me on youtube so I cannot communicate with them on their Youtube videos.... just because I said something negative about them about 10 months ago. Even seen others in the youtube live chat saying they'd been banned before for disagreeing with the CWU in the youtube live chat and everyone suspects the same CWU employee of blocking people. Imagine not allowing your members to have a voice!

Communication is their weak point.

''the relevant part timers''

It doesnt say the number of Part timers working for Royal Mail is 11,000 and all of them will get increased contracts.

Where's this "11,000" figure come from though, if it was, say, 11,124 it looks like somebody has calculated a precise figure, just saying a round 11,000 sounds like it's, at best, just an educated guess?

There's plenty of p/t staff already having to work f/t in order that rounds are prepped and then delivered, I can't see increasing their hours permanently is going to lead to job losses. What it will mean is less o/t payments making it easier for managers and also the SISO data.

I'm certainly not holding any hope out on getting any form of increase in hrs or becoming f/t employee. Totally understand seniority should come into play and agree it should. My DO hired 4 people end of last year Inc myself and now saying they're technically overstaffed. 1 new starter left after a couple of weeks and another on their way out soon. Stuck on the new inferior 30hrs contract. Like the job but fearing the worst already.
