Making use of the momentum gained during Peak will help set us up for a successful 2025.
Chief Operating Officer, Alistair Cochrane, believes it’s an exciting time to be in the company as we transform.
Alistair discusses how we delivered Christmas for our customers and how that will help us moving forward in the new year.
He also turns his attention to what is crucial for the business in the coming months.

We've upped our game again, we've delivered for the customer and we've delivered Christmas for the country.

The planning for this peak has been essential to make sure we could deliver at a very high quality of service, making sure the right vehicles, the right resources were in the right place at the right time really really matters and actually doing the planning as early as we could made sure there was a successful peak for this year.

I think it's been good to see customers still spending the way they have and us being able to deliver that directly to the doorstep.

What's really made the difference this year I think has been the planning, making sure that we had the new vehicles coming in at the right time, making sure that we had the resources deployed on the right shifts to make sure that we could handle all the volume that was coming through.

The momentum in the operation will really take into the new year, coming off a positive peak makes it that much easier because you're not having to look backwards you're looking forwards and we are definitely looking forwards so to me I think coming out of peak here into the new year I think is exceptionally strong.

Key to the operation in 2025, USO reform, we're going to be putting the pilots into operation and then also getting back to our transformation, making sure that automation becomes more and more a keystone of what we actually do.

So to me I think there's a lot to look forward to, it's an exciting time to be in the company as we look to transform the business from a letters business into a parcels and letters business.

Planning my arse...at our place that consisted of saying rotate the mail so you can get the parcels done, we did have some hire vans that came in handy when the existing vans broke down but no extra staff unless you count the new starters that arrived in October and left before December even started.

So that absolute sh** show that was Christmas Pressure was planned? Not enough staff, walks too long and completely unachievable, no extra packet duties, no extra IPS sorters in the morning, getting out on delivery with 2 full walks and lapsing and 2 and a half hours to deliver it all, all that was planned? 2 of our new contract staff quit because it was so well planned.
