40 hour contracts

Never heard of this "contract" and nobody in our office has either. Is this information official or a case of putting 2 + 2 together?

Clarity from the CWU would be helpful as our rep is still waiting for a brief from CWU HQ which I believe is in a week or so.

40 hour contracts are a regional thing. There are none at my office and none on the horizon.

A variation of contract was given for Christmas hours this year, never happened before.

At ours, there was a possibility for some to have had their hours increased for Christmas but no one was offered it and the max it would have been would be 37, to have brought them inline with our maximum full time contract hours.

Have a family member working In another office, been there a few years now and very difficult to get an upgrade in contract in terms of hours even with doing full time hours. Now they have been told no overtime and new starts are on new 40
Hour contacts.

Any others experiencing this ?

Yes but Martin Walsh told us that all part timers would be getting the "opportunity" to move up

I didn't really understand what Martin meant. He said something along the lines of 13,000 part timers would get the chance to go full time, but he seemed to suggest that it was just the part timers that were doing their PT hours + starting at the same time as a FT, that would be getting the upgrade...

but maybe I misunderstood.

There were part timers who signed some sort of 'temporary' full time contract ( not xmas pressure type ) within the last few years.

Essentially you are full time but it could be taken away at any time with enough notice.

I believe its just those contracts that Martin has said are to be made permanent

I've worked f/t hours for virtually 52 weeks a year since I started working for RM but my manager claims he's heard nothing about p/t staff being upgraded to f/t, it seems MW is talking the usual CWU nonsense as I can't see RM suddenly upgrading 11,000 staff on the old contracts, particularly before the DK takeover has been completed as what happens if it doesn't proceed for any reason?

Did you sign a contract? If not unfortunately I dont think this is going to apply to you ( im the same )

This isnt for people who have just been doing FT hours while part time - and could technically just say to the manager they want to stop tomorrow if they wanted to - this is an actual contract that PTers signed given on seniority - I believe all PTers who got a contract over past few years signed this ''temporary'' rolling contract but it was never legally permanent like the contracts of old

This as far as im aware only applies to those who signed that rather than it being all part timers who has been doing FT hours on overtime

Unless it's done in complete secrecy nobody seems to have ever been offered one or signed one in my DO, and nobody as ever referred to it previously on this forum?

I can't believe upto 10% of the workforce have signed one previously but nobody's ever mentioned or seems to know about it?

Thousands of the people Martin Walsh is referring to are people on 35 hour contracts doing 37 hours with the two hours not being permanent

People have taken it, and no surprise, as all part timers or all part timers who do overtime

35 hour contracts are already full time contracts, even if they aren't and they are now all being made up to f/t there's no way there's 11,000 of then across the business.
