VR in pilot offices

I still can't understand how this works in practice, and I don't think the CWU or RM know either.

Is one postie going to cover two frames and deliver everything every day, while another covers many frames just doing 1c and parcels every day?

Pity those poor trial offices.

I don't think there CAN be VR's UNLESS it works. The whole idea behind this is to increase efficiency and reduce staff numbers.

I gave it some thought on how it could work.
Van share goes out with everything 1 day. 2 posties.
Next day driver takes packets&parcels plus first class mail. 1 driver.
Walker either on a 3 day contract just works the days with mail or flips to be the walker on another van share.
Then jump between the 2.
In our office when staff phone in sick we were doing parcels and packets for the van share. So I know it can be done. The main issues is the double mail the next day plus double d2d's.
Think that's where the cwu want the 9/10 working.
Collapse and day and add 50 mins on the remaining 9 days. Would be the back of 4pm finishing times in Scotland for town and rural would be 5pm.

I think it will be something like four walks designated to three posties

On day one - postie 1 and postie 2 doing van share will deliver all items on Walk A and B whilst postie 3 does the tracked and first class on walk C and D

Then on day two posties 1 and 2 will deliver all items on Walk C and D whilst postie 3 does the tracked and first class on walk A and B

Postie 3 would probably need more work from elsewhere though to equalise it I reckon

It will be dependant on what kind of delivery it is though - just like not every walk now is park and loop/van share.

I'm guessing for rurals it'll be something like

Monday -Van driver: Does1c/ priority on walks A,B and C. There's 3 posties doing everything on walks D,E and F
Tuesday - Van driver - does 1c/priority on walks D, E,F. There's 3 posties doing everything on walks A,B andC.

Rinse and repeat.

2 redundancies out of 6.

Not 4 walks a day between 2; 2 full walks per day between 2 and a third covering trackeds off the other 2

Postie 3

All get designated Walk A B C and D as their duties

Monday

Postie 1 and 2 do A and B van share
Postie 3 does Walk C and D Tracked solo van

Tuesday

Postie 1 and 2 do C and D
Postie 3 does Walk A and B Tracked

basically two people rotating four walks with a third person doing the trackeds off the 2 that arent getting 'full service' that day

So what would have been a 4 person job for those four walks before is now a 3 person job
