The current regime would go after the workforce again next year there is no doubt so we will take our chances.

I think it was mentioned when the takeover was first announced that the current board, or most of it, will still be in place under the new ownership.

Oh good grief.

RM owns a lot of prime real estate.

I bet non is sold off :silenced
The property ( which was paid for by the taxpaying British public) is being used as collateral for the loans that Kretinsky has taken out to buy the company.

So, if things go wrong, he just flogs some property. If things go well, he doesn't need to.

As ever for asset-stripping Billionare parasites of former public infrastructre, it's win-win for him, and everyone else loses. See also - water companies, railways, energy companies etc etc etc.
Parasite is the right word for our new owner - he will asset strip long term and thousands will lose their jobs

What other companies he's bought as he done that to in the past?? As far as I can see he has a reputation for building companies up not destroying them.

I suspect they may do that again. However they may also simply shed many of the new staff they have taken on to do dedicated parcel routes - it’s a profit draining way to deliver parcels.

I definitely think dpr duties will be one of the first things to go.

Re Dorset Plodder, I agree with your sentiments on good will gesture and VRs, but they will frame it as such, as they have done recently in the past..
Because currently we have no agreement terms on VR as the last agreement saw to that along with the IHR reduced payment also...and to quote a Tony Bouch podcast, we had no plan then but we do now.....so we can put that in our pipes and smoke it too......
Jobs will go that's obvious, it's just how many pack horses inbetween are put out of their misery before it happens...

I am not sure if this is allowed. Royal Mail is literally going to be the same sooner or later. We already know that labour party is not interested in regulating it neither stopping private equity acquisition.

Letters are in terminal decline.
Parcels are where the money is. The parcel sorting machines seem to prefer larger parcels.
They talk about the need to grow the next day delivery market.
I would say the only job that is safe in RM is a DPR driver.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

They certainly seem uneconomical. Ours cover a big area often delivering one parcel per street. At least at Christmas they are condensed.

I don’t think so.

The dpr drivers go to lots of the same houses I do and is inefficient.

They’ll go first and big parcels will go back onto deliveries and it’ll be one of you doing letters and one doing the parcels off the other delivery with the 1st class letters.

Nothing else makes any sense.

The next day market isn’t that big and there’ll be dedicated duties for that.

Lots of speculation on which job's will go.....
I'd be more interested in which people will go if it comes to compulsory redundancy...For example, walk into an DO office that has 200 postie's, 40 of those postie's are being made redundant..... what and how is the pecking order going to be decided.... Remember not VR but compulsory..... When the USO change's and it will there will be the need for a significant reduction in headcount.
