All deliveries in the area covered by the red warning were suspended. Bristol MC was closed and I reckon SWDC as well, as we were told that all the runs from SWDC had been cancelledBenacreNick wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 08:46Bracing.
But nothing compared to those working in the eye of storm Darragh.
I really feel for my fellow colleagues working yesterday in the West of the country and in Wales.![]()

If I see a good size stone on the street I cannot help a swift kick, today it flew, hit a 3 x 3 foot terracotta plant pot at the side of the door, it cracked & fell to pieces leaving the roots & soil still intact, Diego Maradona type celebration ensued

So you did a line of coke in the van?!
That'll certainly make the job a bit more interesting.

Customers moaning when you turn up at their door with half a bundle of Christmas cards banded together. Listen, you only got it because a tiny bloody packet with the magic T on it turned up.
The machine stops.

Xmas cards have dropped off massively, mech back to normal pre-Xmas pressure working with the normal wave 2 walk sort. Packets are certainly way down, normally we'd often be really struggling to find storage space, no such issues this year, a few times when apart from work on the bays to go out to DOs there's been barely any yorks in the warehouse.

It hasn’t been overwhelming like it normally is.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑21 Dec 2024, 23:38Xmas cards have dropped off massively, mech back to normal pre-Xmas pressure working with the normal wave 2 walk sort. Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Today I had to grab some cash and ciggies before I went into work and for some reason I decided to go to the garage where my duty starts.
I have never done this ever since I've been at Royal Mail.
For some reason I decided to drive around the rear of the building and park my scooter by the night till.
Came across this poor homeless man with no shoes or socks on laying on the ground, soaked thro and freezing to death, quickly checked he was breathing and informed the staff in the garage of the man and his condition and could they call the police / ambulance to attend to him.
On my return to the garage some 2.5 hours later to start my duty the staff informed me they had not called the police / ambulance because they didn't have the time
Went to check on the guy and he was in a bad way, so dialed 999 for an ambulance and was told up to 2 hours before they could attend WTF.
Rang my line manager and explained the situation to him and he agreed I needed to stay with the guy until help arrived, went over to the hand car wash opposite and asked the guy's if they had a blanket I could borrow which they did so lifted his feet off the ground as they were blue and wrapped his hands into the blanket too.
Stayed with him 1 hour and 45 mins making sure he didn't choke on his own vomit (He had drunk a full bottle of Vodka) and was breathing ok.
Assisted the crew getting him onto a stretcher and off to the hospital.
Went an hour over my duty time and rang the hospital when I got home and was informed he was in a critical condition but not life threatening.
Mark I hope you make a full recovery and your life can tread a better path.
So yeah a rewarding day for me guided by my Lord

Good on you, there are to many people nowadays who only care for themselves, and the people at the garage should be ashamed,.no time to ring 999, wtf.menditsa wrote: ↑06 Jan 2025, 17:24Today I had to grab some cash and ciggies before I went into work and for some reason I decided to go to the garage where my duty starts.

Seemingly no Second Class letters today whatsoever. Consequently it was utterly dead. Glasgow MC jumping the gun on the USO pilot?

Tomorrow will be fun for you. How are they going to crack the whip when they suddenly decide mail matters again? We’re led by rogues.
