In our office in Birmingham they recently put up a new letter sorting frame for NHS letters. So they go out every day.

Has any other office got a new letter sorting frame for NHS letters ?

Doesnt most of it come in the sequenced mail so bypasses the IPS?

I like how you asked that.

Most of the nhs letters comes in 1-2 trays to sort on IPS.

Sometimes when sorting normal Mail in normal sorting frames. We posties find nhs letter here and there lol.

Sometimes I find it in my sequence Mail lol

Ours come up in trays in with the special deliveries.
But just taken out and sorted in the normal I.P.S frames.
If that round doesn't go out then neither do they, only Tracked has to be delivered every day.

No. How will it work if you bring bundles back? Guess they’d just get attempted the day after.must be pretty dire at your DO.

Do the nhs know they can pay for a premium service for their “customers” all due respect and I know these a vital appointments for most, but you get what you pay for in terms of who collects it and when it enters out system

Are the NHS seriously sending out letters to invite people to appointment with only 2-3 days notice? That to me is quite a big issue in all of this. There is no excuse for frames sitting with mail for 3-4 days etc, which of course is another issue.

Yes same at our office, important till it gets to a delivery frame then tracked parcels takes priority

Some of them are 2C meters.

Only certain ones are meant to be "priority letters". I can't see the point in keeping them separate as there's no guarantee that the letters for a given walk will go out. May as well leave them to go through the mech and be sequenced by the CSS machines.

Why don't the NHS send them out as Tracked? Across the country it'd work out around 2-3 extra Tracked per walk at most

The obvious answer is cost but there is also the cost associated with a patient missing an appointment

My mate works for NHS appointments. He says they will regularly send out letters, emails and texts ( several times ) for the same appointment just to make sure. And it's Astonishing how many are still missed.

Could you elaborate on this? Is this a dedicated duty that just goes round delivering the NHS letters? Ordinarily I'd rule that out as being an absurd question, yet the last few years...

How easy to spot all NHS letters? I know you can spot the big blue-on-white "NHS" ones. However, I see a lot where the local hospital's name is franked or printed on the top edge in fairly small and quite faint (ink needs topping up) text. I could well imagine those wouldn't be spotted when sorting. I count them as NHS letters. Heck, a Specsavers letter could be very important to many people too.

Who are RM/we to judge exactly what is and is not important in terms of letters. Someone may very well be looking to read their gas or electricity bill this month so they can budget whether or not they can "heat or eat" or buy a few gifts in the run up to Christmas.

On the sort: "This is important, that one isn't, that's semi-important, that one can wait, don't think they'll miss that one, this one looks like junk to me, this one is another important one, ....."
