Afternoon all.

Does anyone know if there's any issues in Glasgow at the moment? Tracking a SPD that hasn't updated since last night, was meant to be delivered 1pm today.

I have the same issue, I'm in Glasgow and a SPD item coming from Southhampton wasn't delivered today and hasn't updated apart from "in transit to Glasgow"

Southampton to Glasgow probably used to go by air, but now that's all stopped, so it's probably by road now.

This was Peterborough to Glasgow. It arrived at Glasgow MC today and now has to be delivered to the local PO as the recipient will be at work for the rest of the week and can only collect on Saturday. Time for a refund methinks.

Yep, 09/12 collected at 10am, 7pm dispatched to Glasgow MC

Next update 11/12, 4:30am, arrived at Glasgow, so took 33 hours from Peterborough to Glasgow, delivery tried after 1pm, taken to local PO for collection

I know it's Xmas, but it's not as if RM don't know it's going to be busy. The delivery was planned for 10th as we knew that was the only day the recipient would be in, so we paid a premium.

"Collected", rather than taken to a Post Office ?

Is it possible that this item was put into a 1st class stream of mail, instead of put into a SPD stream of mail via secure lockers ?

What I mean is, maybe the item hasn't been identified as a SPD item ?

Yes collected from my home address. Was on it's way to Glasgow from Peterborough MC 9 hours later, so happy with that and appears to be being treated at SPD at that point, but took 33 hours to reach Glasgow. Must have had an overnight stop at a Travelodge in Cumbria or something.

Now we have to hope it's safe at the PO until saturday

The receiving mail centre will have certain hours during which there are staff working. If the delivery misses that window, e.g. the truck breaks down en route, it will be scanned in on the equivalent shift the following day. So 3 hours late rapidly becomes 24 hours late.

I am pretty sure that they wouldn’t be allowed to stop at a hotel during the journey in the way you suggest, due to the security implications.

Not sure about this held at the PO stuff, it is very rare that the Post Office has any involvement in the delivery stage, only in certain specific circumstances.

If a special delivery fails, you can claim back the costs of the service and more if you purchased extra insurance.

Because we knew no-one would be in after the day it was due to be delivered, we chose the option of having it left at the local PO for collection, a standard option these days.

End of the day, a premium at three times the cost of 1st class was paid for a guaranteed delivery time, and RM failed in that.
