Trimble
I've been pulled up twice now for going 5mph over the speed limit according to Trimble.
What I want to know is are they accurate?
What is the evidence to prove it happened and the manager isn't MAKING IT UP?
Can they pinpoint the EXACT location and the EXACT day (for example, if it happened on Satarday, could they say it was Monday)
Who inputs the information onto the PDA? Is it the manager?
Is there anything I can put in the van to monitor my own speed and use as evidence to prove I am not speeding?

Re: Trimble
Trimble seems fairly accurate and I assume works off GPS similar to Google Maps etc, it's not like the flashing lights on the dash, which seem to vary from van to van.
The easiest solution is stick to the speed limits, possible a dashcam or dashcam app will collect similar data but will require a power source of some kind, good luck with that in a Doblo or similar!

Re: Trimble
The Trimble uses GPS to locate where you are and through mapping it ‘knows’ the speed limit on each road you use and so it feeds this data to the desktop of your manager.
It’s a day late rather than live and it doesn’t always know about variations due to roadworks etc.
Only solution is to slow down and stick to the speed limit.

Re: Trimble
Thanks for the replies, but telling me to slow down is not helpful when I said I wasn't speeding.
I WAS NOT SPEEDING. Just like the Horizon people were not stealing. I don't trust Trimble in the hands of my manager and I believe it's a tool that can be used against me.
I've now got two accurate speedometer apps downloaded onto my phone
Also, has anyone ever asked their manager to show the evidence? And if so, what exactly have you been shown?

Re: Trimble
Your manager can only use the data Trimble is sending to him if says Van A was doing X mph over the speed limit on Road A at Time A then it's unlikely your manager can doctor it.annem wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 20:29Thanks for the replies, but telling me to slow down is not helpful when I said I wasn't speeding.

A speedometer app is only going to show you your speed at any given time, it will not record your speed so it's really no better than the van's own speedo, it's not evidence you can produce for your manager to show you weren't speeding.

Trimbles can be faulty, I got pulled up a few months ago, saying I was doing 30 in a 20 zone. The road I was on never has had a 20 zone, manager didn’t know what to do when I told him.Barnacle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 20:17The Trimble uses GPS to locate where you are and through mapping it ‘knows’ the speed limit on each road you use and so it feeds this data to the desktop of your manager.

I don’t think 20 mph zones are legally enforceable anyway? Think there was a fuss about that earlier in the year?SMS1969 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 20:53Trimbles can be faulty, I got pulled up a few months ago, saying I was doing 30 in a 20 zone. But anyway, a manager can only use it as a stick to criticise you because unless it was a speed camera or the police, what are they actually able to prove?

Exactly this. That is what he is using it for - a stick to criticise- and I am fed up with it and want to prove him wrong because I know he is wrong.Barnacle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 21:01I don’t think 20 mph zones are legally enforceable anyway? Re: Trimble
The apps I downloaded keep a record off your speed. I will be ready with my own evidence if there is a next timeTopperGas wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 20:42Your manager can only use the data Trimble is sending to him if says Van A was doing X mph over the speed limit on Road A at Time A then it's unlikely your manager can doctor it.annem wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 20:29Thanks for the replies, but telling me to slow down is not helpful when I said I wasn't speeding.

Re: Re:
Ask him for the date, time, and exact location. Because you can’t respond until you know this information. Personally, I’d involve the union rep because has the manager really got nothing better to do.annem wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 21:09Exactly this. Re: Trimble
Also, what if your colleague jumps in the van and goes to deliver a special and drives along the same street you drive along 5 minutes later. Trimble clocks you doing 25mph in a 20mph zone on THAT street. Can it pinpoint where on the street you were speeding?

Re: Trimble
Isn’t the PDA that has done the van check the one that is linked to the Trimble? So your PDA would show your GPS location as being away from the Trimble, therefore you would assume that there would be a data gap where the Trimble logs the speed but your PDA has you located somewhere else?

Re: Trimble
Is that definitely how it works? So if the PDA that did the van check is away from the trimble then no speed is recorded?Barnacle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 21:30Isn’t the PDA that has done the van check the one that is linked to the Trimble? Re: Trimble
The Trimble would still be recording speed, but your GPS location would be showing as somewhere different.annem wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 21:39Is that definitely how it works? Re: Trimble
Aha I understand. So if this is the case will the manager check the GPS location? Or just make an assumption?Barnacle wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 21:44The Trimble would still be recording speed, but your GPS location would be showing as somewhere different.annem wrote: ↑10 Dec 2024, 21:39Is that definitely how it works?
