I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Facebook video:Tony Bouch talks about Revisions on the latest CWU Live Show
So, basically RM don't have a clue what they are doing. Flop flopping about. Yet another revision of which they don't seem to know what they are trying to achieve.
All you need are rounds that are sensibly sized and structured with the mech sorted to match the order of the frame, and the frames sensibly organised with labelled up parcel shelves. The layout of an office should be set up so that there is minimal movement from parcels to IPS to frames.
We need a reduced USO to 5 days otherwise the business is doomed. I suggest Wednesday is the extra day we don't deliver mail as walking 5 days in a row every week will not be good for posties, we need the week to be broken up. Nobody likes waking up on a Monday to work 5 days straight, especially in a physical job like this.
You need contracts that are job and finish with the final hour of the day paid on overtime. Duties should be a sensible size that they virtually never go past that final hour cut off. Posties can decide which hour is the last hour of their day and will be able to pick a round that matches the size of their day.
You then need to reduce the number of managers as now you'll have 'job and finish' and there'll be far less need for managers.
Toxic culture for the most part will be gone.
Walks will be completed except on rare occasions meaning the USO will be fulfilled to requirement.
Royal Mail is protected from collapse. Staff morale is high and posties stay in the job. Customers are happy. Simple. How hard is it!

Our last revision was a disaster. RM’s solution? Another revision to make the rounds longer

Ah Norris, the voice of reason and a great plan, unfortunately sense and reason don't seem to be part of RM vocabulary lately.norris9 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024, 17:01So, basically RM don't have a clue what they are doing. Maybe when Dan the man takes over things will change, the union will grow a pair and we will get a manageable workload on a daily basis........... then i woke from my dream and realised the nightmare was continuing.
Ah if only.

I agree with most of the points made
RM don't need to try and re-invent the wheel and a 5 day USO that the CWU originally wanted is solid but requires government approval. I think that the Union needs to stick with their original plan A before even considering any revisions that are based on RM's proposals for plan B. I'm not quite sure why they have decided to do a complete U-turn on this and become the company's puppets but delivering the 2c every other day sounds like a recipe for disaster. Posties don't like delivering double mail and there will be issues when this mail doesn't go out so there will be more quality of service failures.
Regarding a 5 day USO, I suspect most people would prefer the Saturdays off for football/rugby and a lot of businesses are closed on a Saturday anyway so that makes sense to me. For those who don't want to work a Monday to Friday delivering post straight could still opt to work the Saturday just delivering the parcels?
Job and finish making a comeback now that the company have clocking machines and PDAs and want to account for every minute? Hmmmm
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Facebook video:Tony Bouch talks about Revisions on the latest CWU Live Show
Union talks absolute shite. Our last revision has absolutely ripped the guts out of our office. f**k knows how many reliable staff have left (full and part time). Constant Merry go round of new starters who last 2 weeks then f**k off because the office is a disaster. 120 hours taken out when the office was already on its knees! Every single duty failing, nearly every day!!! What have the union done? Nowt. f**k all! Despite us constantly complaining about it. Not interested. The CWU is done, finished. Ward and Walsh are f***ing clueless. Do they really think Kretinsky wants to work with them?? He's having you on, stringing you along like a pair of gullible idiots, while you're boasting 'how you've got a seat at the table' in negotiations!!!

The CWU is facilitating this. Ward, Walsh, the postal exec, your div, area and local rep are all to blame for the shitshow you describe. Do yourself a favour and f**k the union off. Save yourself a few quid.hazzeem025 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024, 19:50Union talks absolute shite. Re: Facebook video:Tony Bouch talks about Revisions on the latest CWU Live Show
The CWU is interested in none of that and that's not what's coming. There's two things to come out of the sale - a raid on the pension surplus and the final attack on our t's and c's. And never forget Wards advice - fit in or f**k off.norris9 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024, 17:01So, basically RM don't have a clue what they are doing. Flop flopping about. It's amazing how many posts on here blame the CWU for Royal Mail's actions.

I don't blame the wolf for behaving like a wolf; the incompetents completely failing to slacken the jaws around my neck moreso.
It won't be long until the CWU has some sort of 'Lost Cause' mythos around it. 'Oh, we put up a brave fight in '22 and the 20,000 good old boys we lost didn't d̶i̶e̶ quit for nothing'.
The machine stops.

Revisions are a joke. Once the rounds are signed for the same old moaning shouters pester management until the rounds are eventually designed for them . Kick up enough fuss the same old people create the rounds to suit themselves. It's happened for the past 40 years and it won't ever change. Seniority means nothing. Having a big mouth gets you the best round.

After the chaos the CWU has facilitated your spot on. Every failure is a nail in the coffin of the USO. That's thousands of jobs gone. Ward has the answer - fit in or f**k.off.

Of course the CWU is to blame. Re: Facebook video:Tony Bouch talks about Revisions on the latest CWU Live Show
I assume this isn't just posted in jest if not then why would any business agree to most of it's staff having the day off on it's busiest day of the week, Wednesday, you critise the CWU but then suggest something which is a total non starter? Likewise not every postie can or wants to work an hours OT every day of the week.norris9 wrote: ↑09 Dec 2024, 17:01So, basically RM don't have a clue what they are doing. Flop flopping about.
