Would there even be mech? If it's only going to be delivered every other day then RM could just send it as manual to the DOs and let the DOs sort it to walksted_e_bear wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 11:27Of course it will if it's only delivered 5 times a fortnight instead of 12.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 11:06A USO change won't make much difference to call rates as most mech these days is DSAclaretandblue wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 11:01The USO is being changed to increase call rates.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 10:45DTS won't get scrapped as it was brought in to cut down on the calls for walks. But if the walks are made smaller to accommodate the increase in call rate, as you suggest, then delivery staff will have more indoor time to fill.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

To give my 2 cents worth - The reason it wasn't possible was time constraints, if we move to 9 day fortnight then we will go to longer days which allows for a 6 hour delivery span. 4 hours walking doing a regular duty A, then 2 hours driving around doing the tracked, 1C and packets for duty B. Swap A and B the next day. Variations of this have been happening in most offices up and down the country over the last 4 years. That's as big a pilot as you get.worktotime wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 09:48i remember when they did this on a saturday during covid , and it wasnt doable to delivery 2 duties worth of tracked parcels and the mondays wasnt doable withj all the mail held back from the saturday , now they seem to want the saturdays to be the same but also deliver the 1 c letters as well , these people are clueless to what we do , oh well we still have a finish timeTopperGas wrote: ↑06 Dec 2024, 12:08I thought the original suggestion was that rounds would be around 20% shorter, as how can we be expected to deliver double mail every single day, triple on a Tuesday, on the present rounds? Plus why does Tony believe just delivering 1c and Tracked is an easier job, as he ever done it himself recently?![]()

In my time IPS has gone from multiple aisles dominating the lower half of the office to just eight sorting frames. If the MC isn't going to run the sequencers then maybe we should bring back the 48-box frames as a compromise for getting rid of the RM2000 frames. No idea if RM's plans have now changed but that wasn't the suggested idea when the plans were first announced as "Evie" was supposed to be covering the 1c and Tracked on 2 rounds whilst the other 2 posties did the 2c and non Tracked on.the other 2 rounds? Plus you're not going to deliver upto 3 days mail in just a 4 delivery span?Perseus wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 14:00To give my 2 cents worth - The reason it wasn't possible was time constraints, if we move to 9 day fortnight then we will go to longer days which allows for a 6 hour delivery span. 4 hours walking doing a regular duty A, then 2 hours driving around doing the tracked, 1C and packets for duty B. Like I say, there won't be (in my view) anything close to 4 hour delivery spans if the drop Saturday mail and promise more days off work. I also don't buy this talk of 'slightly less' staff needed that they spoke of in the video.TopperGas wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 18:17No idea if RM's plans have now changed but that wasn't the suggested idea when the plans were first announced as "Evie" was supposed to be covering the 1c and Tracked on 2 rounds whilst the other 2 posties did the 2c and non Tracked on.the other 2 rounds? RM don’t care about DOs full stop. Absolutely bizarre stance for a business to take. An item’s journey from A to B possibly via many other points of call reaches its end and it’s like “oh well who gives a frig when it actually gets delivered”SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 12:32Don't think RM will care if DOs haven't got the staffclaretandblue wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 11:48We don't have the staff to sort manual.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 11:44Would there even be mech? He said Saturdays would be van delivery only, having said that if RM are intending to continue to offer d2ds then if all mail is only being delivered 2 or 3 times on alternate weeks then presumably they'd need to be all in the frame ready for delivery so perhaps non drivers to prep them on Saturday and even then it's going to mean a high amount of 'cold calling' with only d2ds, might be more cost effective to simply stop offering that business as it could end up costing more to actually deliver them than the profit made especially when they've managed to lower the amount of mail even further.

RM should insist on all d2d items being addressed and machine sortable, then they could be run through CSS machinested_e_bear wrote: ↑15 Dec 2024, 14:28He said Saturdays would be van delivery only, having said that if RM are intending to continue to offer d2ds then if all mail is only being delivered 2 or 3 times on alternate weeks then presumably they'd need to be all in the frame ready for delivery so perhaps non drivers to prep them on Saturday and even then it's going to mean a high amount of 'cold calling' with only d2ds, might be more cost effective to simply stop offering that business as it could end up costing more to actually deliver them than the profit made especially when they've managed to lower the amount of mail even further.

You'll need to talk to Whistl then, because most D2D is DSA too. Besides, printing an address on them turns them into the very thing the company doesn't want to handle.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Dec 2024, 21:12RM should insist on all d2d items being addressed and machine sortable, then they could be run through CSS machines
