I *think* that is where the 9 day fortnight comes in. 30 odd minutes extra a day gained from having an extra day off every fortnight.TopperGas wrote: ↑06 Dec 2024, 19:58Pretty certain if you take out double mail on a round it takes longer than just 30 mins to deliver it all on 4.5 hours duty? Although why do the CWU expect postie presently working 4.5 hrs will all be content to work 30 mins longer every day, that's 2.5 hrs a week in total, are we moving to everybody being on a 40 hr contract like the new starters?ted_e_bear wrote: ↑06 Dec 2024, 12:17That's what I thought too, did you catch that bit when he said if your walk takes 4.5 hours with a 35% call rate then it will take 30mins longer with a 75% on the busier days when you deliver everything, I'm not convinced.TopperGas wrote: ↑06 Dec 2024, 12:08I thought the original suggestion was that rounds would be around 20% shorter, as how can we be expected to deliver double mail every single day, triple on a Tuesday, on the present rounds? Plus why does Tony believe just delivering 1c and Tracked is an easier job, as he ever done it himself recently?
Likewise why do they think staff on p/t contracts will all be content to work f/t in the future? You have to fear RM will want to move us all onto the new contracts if they move us to f/t contracts, I've previously been told if I want a f/t role then I will have to move to new contract.

Great so another 30 mins later finish everyday, somebody suggested previously that RM wanted us all working 9-5 every day and we do seem to be heading that way. No wonder they are trying to convince us we'll only need to work every other Saturday as nobody will want to be delivering parcels at 4/4:30pm every Saturday.Perseus wrote: ↑06 Dec 2024, 20:03I *think* that is where the 9 day fortnight comes in. 30 odd minutes extra a day gained from having an extra day off every fortnight.TopperGas wrote: ↑06 Dec 2024, 19:58Pretty certain if you take out double mail on a round it takes longer than just 30 mins to deliver it all on 4.5 hours duty? RM's dream is to have us all dispatch as late as possible so that there is no need for LAT shifts or whatever they are called now. 5pm finish times, and beyond, are closer than ever for a lot of staff.TopperGas wrote: ↑06 Dec 2024, 20:23Great so another 30 mins later finish everyday, somebody suggested previously that RM wanted us all working 9-5 every day and we do seem to be heading that way. So could they keep the Wally weeks but with workers only doing 5 days every other week instead of 6 in keeping with this new 9 day fortnight set up? I think there’ll be a few workers willing to be flexible. It’s RM who have been rigid til now with van shares, fixed attendance patterns and holidays needing booked a year in advance.

Re: CWU Live at 5pm - Tony Bouch Returns with USO Update and Q&A
Thinking about this optimised delivery model in greater detail should mean theoretically that no one should have their own fixed round. Even those who signed for a singleton duty will be expected to deliver mail on another duty and only take the Tracked parcels on the duty that they signed for everyday. However, if they are on a business route that gets a lot of parcels what is to stop them from delivering the mail with these parcels?
Will we still get the mech for every walk everyday as usual or will the mail centres hold back certain walks and send them out the following day? I'm assuming that if we were to get more Saturdays off then either the mail wouldn't be processed on the Friday night or held back on the Saturday?
I can only speak from experience but whenever we leave the mail on one frame and just deliver the Tracked items we don't actually save that much time. There are that many parcels that we end up walking round in the loops, so obviously makes sense to deliver the few letters that are with them.
RM and the Union seem to be pushing headlong into this pilot of 65 offices having revisions next year even though Ofcom might not agree to it. Why not wait until it is rubber stamped by the regulator first? Everything that RM and the CWU are doing is just FUBAR (F***ed up beyond all recognition). Just like Delivery 2.0.

Re: CWU Live at 5pm - Tony Bouch Returns with USO Update and Q&A
i remember when they did this on a saturday during covid , and it wasnt doable to delivery 2 duties worth of tracked parcels and the mondays wasnt doable withj all the mail held back from the saturday , now they seem to want the saturdays to be the same but also deliver the 1 c letters as well , these people are clueless to what we do , oh well we still have a finish timeTopperGas wrote: ↑06 Dec 2024, 12:08I thought the original suggestion was that rounds would be around 20% shorter, as how can we be expected to deliver double mail every single day, triple on a Tuesday, on the present rounds? AFAIK we'd run the sequencing as normal and send it out to the DOs as normal. If it was just 1C only I doubt we'd even bother to turn the machines on. We'd just send it as manual as it wouldn't be worth running itpostslippete wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 09:37Will we still get the mech for every walk everyday as usual or will the mail centres hold back certain walks and send them out the following day? Surely they'd just sequence the 2 days together, that makes more sense, but this is RM we're talking about.postslippete wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 09:37Thinking about this optimised delivery model in greater detail should mean theoretically that no one should have their own fixed round. Don't think that'll be possible due to the DTS system. You'd potentially get 1 day a week when you'd get absolutely slaughtered in deliveriesclaretandblue wrote: ↑08 Dec 2024, 10:09

DTS would have to be scrapped.

DTS won't get scrapped as it was brought in to cut down on the calls for walks. Also DSA Economy is up to 5 days. With most MCs having PSMs and the parcel scanning in MC being expanded to cover all parcels, think it's a matter of when, not if the data on parcels gets added to the mix for the DTS system
