Never gonna change there will always be people who are looked after better than others.
On the flip side to that , there are always people that do the job better than others and try a little harder than others, maybe some of these managers know that and are prepared to reward that , I don’t always think that’s such a bad thing.
I don’t mind that but I’ve found if you go above and beyond too much it becomes expected that you take on the extra work all the time with little or no reward.
Easiest way would be to have a daily sheet with all the overtime going and how many hours you’ll get for it and let the people who want it choose.
in our place people dont get paid their full overtime hours unless you stay alert to it. Its despicable
It must be a nightmare for anybody on new contracts as it's bad enough keeping on top of your weekly OT payments, I'm sure the managers try it on with new starters until they realise they are keeping an accurate record.
Yeah this a talking point in our office. A month later people have forgotten about what they are owed, they are raking in free hours from people

This was so obviously going to happen. Theyve shorted weekly paid overtime for decades. These scumbag managers can balance the books by not paying for a month at a time now

Is that not called favourtism.although i understand what you mean because same agency staff are booked everyday.
If your running a business, who are you giving work to , the grafter or the time waster , call it favouritism if you like but makes sense to keep the right ones on side.
There used to be a "time and motion" incentive for workers in some factories whereby workers would be paid an additional amount on what they produced regardless of the hours that they actually worked. That all changed when factories brought in clocking machines.
Unfortunately, RM has gone the same way. Managers don't like staff who are either continually clocking out early or paying staff for 3 hours worth of work only to find that they have clocked out on time. It makes their job very uncomfortable when questions are asked higher up when they are tasked with trying to improve efficiency. Only in certain circumstances do they have any real justification for this
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

RM must be the only delivery company that pays people by time and not workload. I think it's safe to assume there will be a change to that when the takeover and USO reduction comes in.

Yet Amazon, the company that ours seem oh so intent on comparisons with, are happy with the notion of “ghosting”
They pay a set rate and if their employees finish ahead of others are encouraged to go and help colleagues who are struggling but get paid extra even though they are still under their original hours.
Royal Mail want all the stick of competitor comparison yet ignore any carrots that are available elsewhere.

Be careful what you wish for as there are many other "sticks" that come with working for Amazon. I often see Amazon drivers running around with parcels in between drops and today I clocked at least half a dozen of their parcels that were just left outside on the doorstep in the rain. Customer complaints = Lost pay. I also draw the line at Amazon drivers who take toilet roll, wet wipes and a doggie bag with them instead of going to a toilet. Maybe they could also take their p*ss home in a bottle and freeze them for a nice treat.

I’m not wishing for anything, I’m saying that if the company want to set up an environment where every minute must be accounted for with no extra regardless of workload because “that’s how the real world is” then they can’t have it both ways.

Agreed
