So it’s that time of year again !!!

So I been in the Royal Mail game over 15 years. Most of my work colleagues are not nice lol.

Here’s my question to all you lovely people.

If you do other walks. Will you share Xmas tips with the duty holder ?

I will not be sharing any Xmas tips. It’s not my fault you had your day off and I earned it and Due to the fact most of my work colleagues are not nice or they hate me hahaha.

Anything you do receive is disclosable to the employer. What you are doing can be seen as an inducement.

I can't see anything in that post that could be construed as "inducement".
As for disclosing anything to the employer - I take it you don't work on delivery?

Very much depends on the duty holder!
Decent - I'll pass on the full tip to them
To**er - Unless the customer says specifically 'can you give this to X' then it's straight in the wallet
The answer to the question 'are you our usual postman?' varies based on the above too

If they say 'Give this to the regular guy/gal please', then do it obviously.
Otherwise, they are giving it to you.

As for pooling the tips, that is a choice for the 2 involved, but I've found that the person who suggests it in the past maybe has eyes on some of the more generous customers they don't deliver to.

What I do or don't do is none of your business. And yes this subject is covered by a policy. The receiving of money or gifts can be seen as an inducement.

Post the policy and then explain how the statement is possibly "inducement".

If the money is clearly meant for the duty holder I'd pass it on on the basis they've done the work/creeping to get it, if it's "here a fiver by yourself something with it" I'd keep it, not that it regularly happens anyway!

Colleagues deserve the recognition they get from the public.
We see the giving of Christmas tips and gifts for other religious
festivals as a matter between customers and individual employees.


Remember.

You shouldn’t accept a tip if it’s meant to encourage you to reveal
official information or information about another customer, to break
any company rule or provide preferential treatment. Accepting or asking
