With sale of the company looking like it's going be approved, there might be a wave of redundancy to remove those on legacy work contracts.

I'd say they'll be a massive redundacy with the changes to the USO.
About 25% of the workforce.
I'd imagine a deal will be done with the union for 16 weeks + Bonus to leave.
Seniority first to get rid of the legacy contracts.
Then with them reduced. Eventually outnumbered by the new inferior contracts everyone will be forced onto a uniform contract.
Probably about £1 above minimum wage.

RM will not offer redundancy for people over 60, for starters it will be a crap lump sum they would get, they only have 7 years max left to work before they retire. If they do offer then most posties over 60 would refuse since the payment would be so low. Late 40s and 50s more like it (praying it's me lol)

It will be based on seniority so likely to be the older ones. Many are already thinking of leaving so would take pretty much anything as it's better than nothing.

I refuse to believe those shysters thought that - they know RM are ok money wise...they just want to protect themselves and screw us over

Plenty of over 60’s still work for Royal Mail and even over pension age. They would qualify, if with length of service for voluntary redundancy (and the same terms) as it would break the discrimination law of 2006 if they were not. As mentioned it will likely be seniority that is the deciding criteria.

VR Is not happening. Its just the dream of an ageing workforce. The USO would need to be completely scrapped for a flicker of a chance. And they are waiting another year to decide if second class letters can be left behind on a Saturday. That's it.
