So looks like Royal Mail have their scrooge hat on this xnas, was informed by our union rep December paydate will remain at the 31st... all the companys I've ever worked for always paid their staff before xnas, as some people depend on it for Christmas shopping

Christmas pay update for Royal Mail Group monthly paid staff.

Earlier this week we were made aware Royal Mail Group had issued communications stating that Monthly Paid employees and all grades in Royal Mail, Parcelforce and RMPFSL would see a change in the December pay date for 2024 from before Christmas to 31st December 2024.

Royal Mail also wrongly stated this move had been made in consultation with the CWU. This was not the case.

It is true that some members were comfortable with this change given it shortens the gap between December and January salaries but we know many of you will have budgeted your Christmas arrangements already.

Following strong interventions from the union the following has been agreed:

For monthly paid staff the cut off date for overtime payments to be included in December salaries has been moved from 8th December to 15th December.
All staff who want some or all of their December salaries paid on the 24th will now have the right to request this.

We are working with the company on the exact details of the process and will communicate with you again once it is resolved.

Whilst we are disappointed that an intervention was required, we are pleased that we have been able to ensure no monthly paid member will be negatively impacted by this change and we now have concrete solutions in place.

We ask that this update is shared with all your monthly paid colleagues.

Last year we were paid early.. the cut of date for this month is Sunday the 17th.. then you basically have to wait 2 weeks before you get that wage..meanwhile when Novembers wage comes in you have the equivalent of 2 weeks done into Decembers wages..so overall you basically have 6 weeks done before you get paid.. that's the reality of the new contracts.. at least the weekly paid know where they are at..

No where in the world works a full month then has to wait another 2 weeks before wages hit their banks.no where.

If morale wasn’t already rock bottom in my sorting office, it is now. Meanwhile the old contracts are laughing. Absolute farce of a company!

Lots of companies pay on the last working day of the month, while others pay on the last working Friday of the month. By the same token, most do pay early in December.

While I feel your pain — I am on a new contract, monthly paid too, so in the same boat — the one silver lining is that the gap between Dec and Jan paydays will be slightly shorter.

Not in December they don't other than RM now name one. In fact name one that doesn't pay less than the national average wage even.

My wife's employer pays every 4weeks so yes that can fall end of December like it does this year.
